TYT TH-UV98 bricked & usability issues, looking for feedback
I bought the TYT TH-UV98 transceiver. When trying to flash the firmware, the programming connector (the Kenwood speaker/mic jack) jumped out by the springiness of their connectors and now my radio is bricked. I suppose it is for good?
Anyways, I may just buy another one and keep the bricked for spares. I bought it for satelite work, but the radio does not support cross band operation, at least not with the current firmware. That is why I tried to update. I wonder whether cross band channels could be programmed using the cable? Does the CHIRP software support such function?
Also I wonder whether there is a way to copy memory to VFO from the radio panel? And whether it is possible to display channel name in case the channel name is defined, but to display frequency if the channel name is not defined? Currently I may only display one or the other. If the channel name is not defined and the display is in MEM mode, then MEM-channel_num is displayed instead of the frequency.
Thanks and 73, Vojtech OK1IAK

I just checked & CHIRP doesn't support the UV98
Thank you. BTW I bricked mine yesterday morning, I tried to flash a new firwmware, the programming connector did not hold well inside the socket and I was too quick to switch off the radio before trying a new flashing round. I think this one will be reserved for spares.
