To confirm - do I still get Deluxe Edition if I buy EA now?

Question

Or am I too late for that? I was planning to buy the game on one of the sales way after release, but due to ending up better financially than I expected at this time, I can finally treat myself with this masterpiece! Just curious if I'm still eligible for the upgrade they mentioned at release.

Yes. Anyone with EA up until launch gets the deluxe upgrade for free.

I'm probably going to buy it just before the 28th. Seems like no reason not to.

SomethingPersonnel•

Well one reason would be that you get the play the EA right when you buy it. But yes, other than that, there's no reason not to.

Does this also include the 72-hour advanced playtime for early buyers?

6
Cerulean_ShamanTaking a knee•

Yep! You get the full deluxe edition which includes the head start. It's just chapter 1 though but that should be more than enough for most folk.

I mean if people bought it 3 days before release, will they still get it? I have friends holding back until then. I already bought it last week.

And oh yeah it's definitely more than enough. Took me 30 hours to even get to the "thank you" message from Larian.

We really won't know until then, but on paper, what Larian is doing is that the preorder bonus is the deluxe edition. There should be no reason anyone waiting until then shouldn't get it and they're not the kind of company that really cares enough to screw fans over on this.

However, there's going to be a cutoff point eventually so I wouldn't try to buy the game an hour before or something in case you get the timing wrong, lol.

But you should be able to buy the game right in the middle of the head start zero problems. In fact, I'm positive Larian is counting on just that.

Sweet. I didn’t even think about that. I’ve been trying to remain in the dark as I can till the game comes out.

would you automatically get it or would you have to download/activate it?...

1

Not sure exactly, but if it's like Skyrim SE, Steam will know whether or not you're authorized to have the Deluxe edition.

How does the early access work again? you get 72hrs(days) of playing the game early before it’s release?

5
flatgreyrust•

You can play the entire fist act right now. It’s a solid 30+ hours if you have a thorough playstyle. Might be even more since I haven’t played in a few patches.

FYI early access saves will not transfer to the final release. Just something to consider before you dump a few dozen hours in to the game.

I’m taking about console, The deluxe version has 72hours early access before launch I believe I don’t know if that’s right….

1
glassteelhammer•

You get to start playing 72hrs early. During that time, you will only be able to play Act 1, and your saves from that 72hr period will transfer over to the full game.

What does the deluxe upgrade give you?

INTPhoenixOPGale•

The Digital Deluxe version will come with a custom dice skin based on whether you bought it on PC or PlayStation 5, as well as the following:

Divinity Bard Song Pack - Astound audiences by performing this special set of new songs from the Divinity series

Paintings from Rivellon - Discover a new collection of paintings across the Forgotten Realms

Adventurer's Pouch - Receive a collection of camp supplies and potions to help get your journey started

Digital OST - Enjoy the music of Baldur's Gate 3 from composer Borislav Slavov

Digital Artbook - Explore the art and design of Baldur's Gate 3 in this digital artbook, written by Larian

Digital Character Sheets - Peruse a set of four-page D&D character sheets for each Baldur's Gate 3 origin character

Owners of the Digital Deluxe Edition also get the Treasures of Rivellon Pack, which contains four artifacts based on party members from Divinity: Original Sin 2. The Mask of the Shapeshifter, inspired by bucket-wearing skeleton Fane, lets you change your appearance; the Cape of the Red Prince, inspired by the Red Prince of course, is a magical cloak; the Lute of the Merryweather Bard, inspired by tormented musician Lohse, is a playable instrument; the Needle of the Outlaw Rogue, inspired by murderous elf Sibelle, is a magic dagger; the Bicorne of the Sea Beast, inspired by nautical dwarf Beast, is a hat.

Plus apparently the 72 hour headstart when it's about to release, it seems

Third time lucky. The answer to the question is yes.

Anyone who purchased EA gets the upgrade.

Just purchased and not installed still counts?

Still one day to release. So I guess so.

1
nr1988•

Right ya I just purchased it today but I don't particularly feel like installing it when I know I'm going to have to do a full reinstall when it releases

Affirm

Is there a link to the EA thing? I know it was 3 days of EA, but didn't realize it was also limited to act 1. Hopefully it's the full act 1 and not the one we already have.

2
INTPhoenixOPGale•

Heard that from folks here too, but I'm sure larian has a official announcement somewhere

2
FingeringAPeach•

I love Larian sm. Yes we get the deluxe version if we have EA before launch.
