Westbrook's MEAN block on Hibbert

Just because of the size differential and with Westbrook coming from behind for the block, that's a year-end top ten block highlight. That shit was nasty.
WORD
and he hit the shot on the other end
That is the definition of denying somebody at the rim.
Made him sit down.
Actually it's an example, not a definition.
Alright fine.
This is an example of someone not getting an idiom.
Why it's the very definition of it!
actually it's an idiom
you're a towel
You get my upvote, mister.
Why the gif? This deserves a video.
"aaaieeeeee"
Nice, good to see the play leading up to it.
Look at how disappointed West is lol
The best part of that is when the lumberjack in the background jumps in the air in excitement
Thank you! I needed to know what the home crowd sounded like after that.
They went with "OOOOOOOOOHH!!!!", like Westbrook was a gladiator and just decapitated his opponent, but "AAAAAH!!", like he saved a baby from a burning building, was also a possibility.
The video shows that he got a lot of arm. I still wouldn't have called it, but whatever.
Videos are always better than gifs. I don't understand why people make small, blurry, slow-loading, soundless, low-fps videos instead of a regular video.
More people click on gifs than videos.
Yeah but every other cool play post on this subreddit is a video.
I'd rather have the gif so I can just watch it 100 times in a row without doing anything.
I've never understood this. Gifs often take forever to load, while videos usually load instantly. Plus videos are bigger, usually clearer, have sound and you can pause and rewatch from whichever point you want. There is almost never a situation that I'd rather have a gif over the video.
word! i click on gifs, and never on videos except if they're on youtube. fuck you espn/nba.com you motherfucking cunts
Westbrook is actually not that high up, when you consider the hight difference beween them. Awesome timing and power.
that shit was like bane breaking batmans back
That shit was like the Penguin breaking Batman's back

No homo
I don't know why you're being downvoted. That gif was taking forever and this was exactly what I went to the comments for.

Scary athletic...During the Olympics Simmons threw around the idea of Westbrook as a decathlete, and I'm pretty sure with about 6 months of training he'd be crushing everyone.
6 months? That is a joke. You must have absolutely no clue how long it takes Olympic athletes train for their events. To say it would only take 6 months for Westbrook to not only compete on their level, but to DOMINATE is highly insulting.
It takes a special talent to get butthurt that easily.
The majority of NFL players have the physical strength to do what Olympic athletes do. This is not to say they have the specific training but they could sure as hell compete in a short amount of time.
They'd also have to drop a lot of muscle weight in order to be competitive in the endurance events, and then they wouldn't be quite as strong.
Took tim duncan 2 years to become a first round nba draft pick.
I disagree about 6 months, because so many of those events are technique events. But I don't doubt for a second he'd be amazing at it.
Comparison
Ashton Eaton: http://www.zimbio.com/photos/Ashton+Eaton/2012+Olympic+Track+Field+Team+Trials+Day+2/Dc8UwXYIDP4
Russ: http://espn.go.com/nba/player/photos/_/id/3468/photoId/2596080/russell-westbrook
He would need to bulk to compete in the throws. Did he ever run track in HS?
Does he even lift?
Doesn't look like his high school even has a track team. I do agree that he would need to get a bit bigger for the throws, and maybe I'm getting a bit ahead of myself, but just watching him run up and down the court making plays like that, I feel pretty confident that Russ has the speed/leaping ability necessary.
Pole vaulting is hard as fuck though.
Source?
I've jumped before.
Do an AMA
ouch
Was at the game, my ears are still ringing from how loud the crowd got when that happened.
It was welcome indeed! We've been quieter this season overall for some reason... :/
Unless that was just bad luck in the two games I've been to.
Might have something to do with the change from shorten season where nearly every game mattered, to a longer season where it's okay to lose some. I fully expect us to become the definition of "Loud City" again when the season starts wrapping up.
Loud City erupted when this happened! So glad I was at this game!
Erupted then stayed loud for the rest of the game. It was awesome!
Daaamn, Hibbert got bitched
The height different is crazy too, Hibbert has almost a foot on Westbrook, but I guess mad hops and positioning can work wonders
If you look at the video, WB is actually not that high up from the ground. Amazing timing and strength though...
That block will without a doubt haunt Roy's dreams tonight... simply nasty.
GOD DAYUM!
With no regard for human life... he killed a man at the rim.
That was disgusting (in a good way).
That didn't even look like his normal sky high jump. Pretty mediocre jump by his standards. And he STILL Ben Wallaces him.
Disrespectful. Westbrook gives zero fucks, plays fearless. Love that about him.
I've noticed it looks like all the OKC fans have united on this thread... Do we have a subreddit?
Try r/thunder, my dude.
I know Durant is technically the better player, but Westbrook is by far my favorite player from OKC, maybe my favorite player from the West. Very exciting to watch.
So fucking nasty. Westbrook then goes and drops a jump shot on Hibbert on the other end and then Thunder's next possession he does it again and Hibbert just threw his hands up and shook his head, that was a bad couple of minutes for Hibbert.
Agreed.... that gif needs a NSFW tag.
Shades of Ben Wallace blocking Shaq, anybody?
Definitely. Except that was center on center. This is PG on Center
Except that was Roy Hibbert, not Shaq.
Except... wait are we just stating obvious things now? Except undrafted on number 1 overall pick.
O, o shit. Wow. Props Wallace
There's also Nate Robinson on Yao.

His whole season has been bad... shooting 38% at 7'2 is ridiculous.
He desperately needs a pass-first PG
We don't have an offense that would use a pass first PG. The whole idea is irrelevant.
I'm not sure what he needs, but a pass first PG is meaningless in our offense.
yea your offense is horrible and stagnant and relies very heavily on paul george who isnt a go-to player yet IMO.
you guys under utilize DJ Augustin, though i'm not sure hes the answer Pacers need but he's a very underrated PG who can setup his teammates well.
His offense has been atrocious but luckily has been (for the most part) really good defensively.
Erick Dampier finished with a sub-40% FG% twice. Besides that, he also shot .401 and .405 in two other seasons. Being a Warriors fan is great!
"best center in the NBA" LOL
People say that?
To be fair, there's a shortage of quality centers. All centers these days are prima donna little girls and a former shell of quality centers that existed just 10 years ago.
You only have to watch the Hakeem reel posted here a couple days ago to feel sad about today's big men.
No
he said something about wanting to be the best
ah well that's cool. he's a young guy and he should aim for the top. Doubt he'll ever get there though.
Who claimed that he was the best center in the NBA?? Not even Pacers fans think this.

Thanks for the link. At least we know he has the work ethic to hopefully get there.
What I'd give for a video of all this...
The initial block is on the highlights on thunder.nba.com, it doesn't show the rest of it though
There's video of the gif lower down but is there any of this whole sequence of plays?
westbrook just put those big ol balls all in hibbert's mouth and face.. he owns him now yo
