I’m getting back into EU4 after being more into Stellaris, HoI and CK3 for years. I want to play a non-European nation. Who are your favourites?
I’ve tried to play ardabil a few times today and just gotten creamed.

Honestly, I love playing the Kongo and having that isolated start. There is plenty of challenge as you get bigger, and you can shoot for the African Power achievement. Exciting fast past early start killing your neighbors with a break to startigizes securing Africa.

Kilwa was a fun one, but I haven't played them recently. The zanizbar node is powerful, and the gold mine is plentiful. It is also somewhat isolated, so rapid expansion is viable. I usually enjoy rapid early games the most.

try playing aztec or a native american tribe and fight off the colonisers , amazing feeling especially if you get the sunset invasion achievement as aztecs
Some Chinese tribe and form Ming or even Mongol Empire

Timurids, Ming, Ajam into Persia and Mamluks. If u r a masochist go for the Aztec.
Timurids into Mughals can WC easily.
Ming are the most unique nation imo, with a completely Unique playstyle.
Ajam into Persia for the exotic trade goods and maybe revival of the safavid empire.
Aztecs only in extreme cases coz their religion is literally the hardest and most stressful one to play.
Mamluks just to beat on the ottoblob
