Carrier Infinity Integration

Personal Setup

I am about to pull the trigger on a pretty fully featured Carrier Infinity heat pump, variable/communicating dual fuel setup for my house.

I am wondering if there are decent solutions to integrating the Infinity thermostat controls into HA.

To date I have been pretty smitten with an Ecobee and a handful of sensors integrated into HA. I know that I’ll be giving up the sensors, but I really, really want to preserve the ability to control and monitor everything in one place using HA.

I was in a similar situation with the Mitsubishi heat pump. There was an integration for their Kumo Cloud app. However I eventually learned that heat pumps are most efficient maintaining temp, and are slow to respond to changes in temp. They’re really set it and forget it. So I don’t do much with the integration, other than data of when it’s running and how the other temp sensors in the house respond. But there’s no actionable information.

I think I saw a HACS integration for the Carrier. I’ll look for it again.

The existing HA integration is called infinitude. It's a bit of a hack that uses a web proxy to intercept the communications between the thermostat and the cloud, but it works. Its days are numbered though. Carriers latest thermostat firmware uses MQTT over TLS and is not interceptable. You'll have to downgrade a version or two if your thermostat ships with the latest release.

There is also one that polls the web api

Thanks, that might be useful when Infinitude finally dies!

Thanks for this, I had no idea I could integrate my Bryant thermostat this easlily. Very happy to now have it on HA.
