Can someone explain to me why Revu updates are so heavy, slow and require rebooting? It's just a freakin' PDF editor!

Major applications like Photoshop and AutoCAD can update themselves without taking this long or requiring rebooting.

Maybe its just all for show to make people feel better about paying the money for this application, or just lazy programming, but I find it insufferable how Revu pops up an "update" notification in the middle of my workday, then - even if I decide "ok, I'll take a short break" it sidelines my machine for 10 minutes, requires a full reboot and upends my entire workspace.

As background and context: I am not a Linux admin or an IT professional by trade and just use TrueNAS for home and casual uses. Nonetheless, I have a series of apps running on my TrueNAS machine, as well as a "VM" instance of Debian hosting Home Assistant.

I just installed the 25.04.02 update this morning and understood the main point of the update to be a "fix" of the mess with VMs from the last update.

What I discovered for myself is that the mess is more confusing now.

We have "Containers" which is where my Debian/HA install seems to be found (which IS a VM still, right?)

There is VMs, which I assume that these are the previous VM implementation that they upset in the immediate updat

My apologies if this is not the right place or way to ask this. Please steer me to the right place if this is not.

I am considering buying new over-the-ear headphones that allow me to connect to my iPhone (a pretty recent model) and my PC via bluetooth at the same time.

Is this possible and are people doing this sucesfully?

If anyone is curious there is some more background below, but my question is a simple one, I think.

I currently have a pair of Seinheiser Momentum 3 headphones that can connect to both simultaneously, but I pretty much hate them. Not only is their bluetooth implementation a little shaky at times, but the headphones themselves get uncomfortable after a couple of hour

I recently saw a couple of screenshot and a video of "Next Valley," which was presented as a potential new direction for the Windows desktop environment. I am guessing that these are mock-ups, maybe from just random people on the internet, but there was something compelling about a few of the features.

My question to the subreddit in general is whether there is any expectation of a "big" change like this happening under Windows 11 or is this just something that may never happen as Microsoft is trying to figure out a way to shoehorn AI (or whatever) down our throats?

To be clear, I am not loving everything about "Next Valley" but wish for just a little bit more customizability in W11 witho

So, last night I carried my 2019 16" i9 MBP under my arm and opened it up to find a glowing crack on the screen and a display that doesn't work.

I know that the machine is basically done for. Everything is backed up and I am realistic about the value of the computer and the dismal cost/benefit ratio of repairing it. The waste of it. It was a nice laptop and plenty fast for the household basic uses it had been used for lately.

I am pretty sure I am looking at a replacement for this machine. Don't need anything too muscular, but I want to be as future-proof as possible. I am not too price sensitive, but anything that sort of scratches the same itches as my broken laptop puts me

I've recently made a foray into mechanical keyboards and think that maybe a more custom build might be the thing to do next. Even though I am coming from a pretty "basic" place, I think that what I have in mind is unique enough to be totally overwhelmed with the options out there, so I am hoping that you can sort of point the way.

I need a mostly full-sized keyboard, and have grown to like low-profile keys: I got a a full-size Logitech MX Mechanical with brown switches more than a year ago and it was a bit of a revelation for me. The itch stroke once more a couple of months ago and I bought a Keychron K17 Pro with Brown switches and like that even better.

I like the low profile, the 9

Over the years I have run across the limitation where Revit tells me that lines are too short when detailing things like million extrusions.

Usually I take this as a clue that I am over-drawing something and move on, but I’ve got a situation where I want to have some filled regions for firm logos on a title block and the various arcs and lines are quite fine.

I can always import DWG elements, but I would prefer for these elements to be Revit native.

Is there a way to create a detail item that can be scaled down or just drawn with very small segments?

I am about to pull the trigger on a pretty fully featured Carrier Infinity heat pump, variable/communicating dual fuel setup for my house.

I am wondering if there are decent solutions to integrating the Infinity thermostat controls into HA.

To date I have been pretty smitten with an Ecobee and a handful of sensors integrated into HA. I know that I’ll be giving up the sensors, but I really, really want to preserve the ability to control and monitor everything in one place using HA.

I am on vacation and was messing around with my devices at home. Wanted to access a device that is usually accessible to me on the home LAN, but had no luck.

I have an ASUS router that is running WireGuard on it. I’ve had OK luck using it to access certain devices remotely, but I’m no expert.

Anyway, I wasn’t getting anywhere after connecting to the WireGuard VPN with my device (far away from home), so I tried messing with some settings, which is why I’m here.

I figured that the key was the AllowedIPs field and it looked like entering 0.0.0.0/0 for “client AllowedIPs” AND “server allowedips” would route everything from my remote device to the remote router running WireGuard.

My apologies for a post that is probably made here too often, if there is a resource or post that you can direct me to if my question is too basic, I would very much appreciate it.

I currently have a Synology DS416 with 16TB of raw storage using SHR (Synology's RAID scheme) ith 12TB usable. This is used for some shared storage on my home network, TimeMachine backups, Plex server, and more ad-hoc Windows backups using AOMEI Backupper (which I don't like much).

Alongside this, I have a Raspberry Pi running Home Assistant and my Asus Router also providing WireGuard VPN access.

The DiskStation is pretty slow at times and it feels like maybe having only a single "always on" machine w
