High heat road hazard

Riding 7" from the midday sun in S Fl. On a regular route I pulled away on a green arrow to a left hand turn (accelerating lightly to load the rear wheel). About 2/3 of the way through the rear wheel let go a bit. It was a 'huh' moment. It caught and there was no problem, just a mild wtf.

I can only guess I hit a tar patch but I didn't see anything (I like to think I'm watching my line).

Is this a high heat road hazard? Can hot asphalt slip away under load while cornering?

Have you hit this?

On the track, on hot days, things can get a little slippery. I’ve never had a problem on city streets and I live in AZ where it’s over 115 today

Yes. Hot asphalt, particularly in busy intersections can be "greasy".

I've been riding more in the heat this year.

Thanks for the feedback.
