Replacing mesh drum heads

Help - Alesis

Hey sorry for the dumb question just wanna make sure before I buy, I have an alesis strike pro SE that I damaged the snare and bass drum mesh head on a while ago. I just want to sell the kit but need to replace those, can I buy any mesh head the same diameter? Ill probably go with a roland one, should still fit right? Cheers

Yes, you can get replacement mesh heads. Why are you selling it?

it was a decent kit but i still found it a bit more difficult to practice on an electric and than transition to an acoustic. plus ive moved house and don't have the room for any drum kit. Now I just play on an acoustic at a mates storage shed. I also wanna move countries so I'll have to sell everything lol

I reckon next time if im going to buy an electric, I'll go roland even if it's 8000 dollars. I love the build quality and dynamics you get from roland after playing them in music stores, plus the hardware of alesis didn't feel sturdy so I didn't feel i could gig with it. roland had genuine drum hardware

Yes you can, Rolands are good quality, but why not Alesis? Probably you'll end up spending more. Just one advice: make sure the mesh is thick and more than one ply - you're selling it, but do the next owner that favor and avoid an issue with cheap mesh heads may be harmful to the cones and plates underneath...

I couldnt find alesis mesh heads, rolands were the only brand i recognised when i looked online. I'm in australia btw so any shipping id have to pay to get it overseas would probably negate the savings. but cheers i'll get a decent quality one

Oh, I feel you, bro... I'm from Argentina, imported my Strike Pro SE by myself... Everything is replaceable, mine is still in good shape... In my case, some local brands "manufacture" edrums and I realized parts like rubbers, heads, clamps, etc. Are standard and compatible with multiple other brands like Alesis and Roland (they really bring it from China). I deferred from purchasing Yamaha, because they are very different in design.

Is it that you guys are using worn sticks? In case you have an acoustic kit, don't mix sticks, and also don't use the felt side of the beater for the kick drum... I play regularly since 3 years now and nothing is still showing signs of worn...
