"Diaoyu Island belongs to China!"

urgg... he is just oozing with patriotism

The Chinese ultra nationalism is a) two steps away from fascism and b) a useful puppet too whipped out by the CCP when they want to divert attention away from something. But China's population is generally very proud of their country, so they eat it up.

So even the mature, old-school, now-grown-up dota pros are idiotic children. Good to know.

Even if you're dumb enough to buy that CCP 'hey people we have a leadership transition coming so behave...oh look Japan is being evil, booooo, China, China don't you just love China?!?" bullshit, why bring it up in something so unrelated? You don't see Irish 'celebrities' talking about northern ireland every chance they get, for example.

It's a perhaps unethical means but that does not mean the opinion is baseless.

For reference: Senkaku Islands

I can so relate to this as a Filipino.

In our case, it's the Chinese who are the ones stealing an island away from us. Spratley Islands. The Chinese are building permanent structures and using "fishermen" as pawns for squatting.

It's really a big deal what they're doing in our country. The islands are too far from their shores and quite near ours in comparison.

It was already a staple carry item, but he then bought it even when it was unnecessary, and tried farming it even if his team suffered for unnecessary 4v5's and shit.

I'm not sure why that title came up, but the thing I meant to point out in this interview is towards the end where he mentions the possibility of being sponsored by Tongfu. Perhaps we will be seeing a Tongfu.int in the near future

What do you feel is the reason that LoL(League of Legends) is so popular? Have you played this game yet?

I have seen a few of my friends playing it. I feel it is very girlish, as though it's more suitable for females. Also, the speed is much slower compared to DotA. I don't like that game, I feel that game's skill cap is quite low.

I see no reason to quote this.

Why does everything have to be a superiority check against other games?

...

Do men really have to use women every time to insult something?

Why do you hate us so much?

4
admiraldusty•

I don't think it was meant to demean women. LoL has a "cuter" art style to it and I'm assuming that's what he was talking about

9
Green_Phoenix•

The assumption that women like "cuter" stuff isn't that great, either.

Besides, that's ridiculous. LoL is full of champions designed like fan service. Dota 2 is actually far more egalitarian in that respect.

Well I guess if you're determined to be offended you have plenty of material. Keep in mind that this whole interview has been translated from Chinese so who knows what sentiment was originally behind it.

Chilll... It's just one pro gamers thoughts. I like girl gamers. The problem is, people are usually sexist, so it turns girls off to games. The other problem is that there are a lot of loud attention whore female gamers, and they take the spotlight and give girl gaming a bad name. Just like in sports, it's going to take time before people enforce a social norm that making fun of gender should not take place in any game

Having a pro gamer who's serious business enough to be interviewed by GosuGamers demean women so much is kind of demotivating... next time I am going to read Purge hates women, and I am sitting here reading his guide.

The other problem is that there are a lot of loud attention whore female gamers, and they take the spotlight and give girl gaming a bad name.

From my experience, men actually support these attention whore gamers. It's not like they would exist if there wasn't some return from it.

I certainly agree with your second point, that's why I'm hoping that society will fix that problem

And again, that's just a person being interviewed. I think that GosuGamers should have pressed on that point potentially, but it's just an interview. Ideally, just like people are hating on Tobi for abandoning joinDota and The Defense and how horrible The Defense is, people should also hate on this guy for making comments like that until he realises that he's being a dumbass.

Anyways, I don't know what or why I'm writing anymore, so I'm gonna stop. Don't be discouraged by the misogyny, know that lots of people also agree with you
