Bang.

Few things made Corporal Daven Trask happy, but this was certainly one of them.

Bang.

Command had told the well-drilled tank crews of the one-three that the enemy was inferior in terms of training and equipment- it had been an understatement.

Bang.

As Daven's steed, the Vanquisher "Kalor's Fist", raced through the streets surrounding the starport, he could see the burned-out wrecks of dozens of enemy tanks- hellhounds, Russes, even an old macharius the enemy had pulled out of some warehouse somewhere.
Every so often the crew would encounter an enemy vehicle that had survived the initial assault, and then...

Bang.

Another enemy tank sent to rejoin the Omnissiah.

Judging by the vox traffic in his comm-bead, the Praetorians attached to them for infantry support were having as easy a time as they were- after the enemy's armour had crumbled under the one-three's spearhead, the veteran Praetorian soldiers had swept in and driven the stunned enemy infantry into a full blown rout.

Switching his comm-bead back to the tank's internal frequency, he could hear his commander's voice.

"Good news boys, just got word from the Praetorians- their valks have spotted an enemy macharius and their infantry managed to knock out one of its tracks with a krack missile. We're moving in to finish it off"

As they rounded the corner they could see the heavy tank, stuck in a narrow corner, its crew desperately trying to get their track repaired as the guns of the Praetorians forced them to keep their heads down.
Daven traversed the Vanquisher's turret until his sights rested just above the enemy tanks vulnerable engine compartment. He heard the loud "clunk" of the gun breach close and felt a punch on his shoulder from the loader, signifying he was ready to fire.

Bang.

From the desk of Lt. Dervyn Hoyt, Regimental quartermaster, 13th Kalor Armour Division.

Lord Greim, I am pleased to report that the three squadrons deployed to Vulcan Primaris have not only completed all of their assigned objectives, but have done so much faster than anticipated and with far fewer casualties than initial estimates predicted.

Major Kole, commander of A Sqn. and overall commander for the one-three's forces in the city, reports fewer than 10% casualties, the only losses being the hellhound "Firefist" and the Leman Russ Punisher "Ironstorm". Losses for the attached elements of the 33rd Praetorian have yet to be finalized, but initial estimates put their casualties at 10-15%

Commanders in the field report heavy damage enemy armour capabilities, with an estimated 80% loss of enemy armour, including all three Macharius-class heavy tanks present at the battle.

Maj. Kole recommends tank ace status be awarded to the commander of leman russ vanquisher "Kalor's Fist", and that special commendation be awarded to Sgt. Denholm of the 33rd Praetorian, who is reported to have personally knocked out two enemy vehicles and crippled a third, using only a chainsword, two frag grenades, and a bottle of brandy. Reports of the sergeant yelling "I've done your tank like I've done your girl, WOOF!" cannot be confirmed at this time.

Thought for the day: Big guns never tire.

(D20 result 19- 17, +1 for being more veteran than the enemy, +1 for winning previous battle)
