Job won’t dismiss patient after he made a racist comment towards me.
I work at a family practice at the front desk. We had a patient show up 15 min after his appointment time, when that happens we have to check with provider if they will see them. The provider said no, when I informed the patient they got angry and start spouting off explicits. I let him know that I will not be helping him if he continues to talk like that to me, he then storms out and says “you’re not good for anything, go play basketball” he was about to say the n word at the end of it but somehow stopped himself(I’m sure he said it once out of the building). I told my manager and the provider. The provider has stated that she would never see him again and the manager had stated she would see about getting him dismissed. I had noted in his chart what had occurred incase he tried to call in and get rescheduled or something. A month passes and I find out not only was the patient never dismissed but the notes I had put in where deleted. I asked my manager and she said that it was my fault that he got pissed because the patient told her that he was only 14 min late not 15 min. Then she told me the partners of the practice had decided not to dismiss him despite what he said.

They have to take some step to make sure it doesn't happen again (even a discussion counts), but they aren't required to fire the client
But why is that ? They’ve gotten rid of clients for insulting staff before
The fact that they have done so in the past does not mean they are required to.
Fair enough, I will start to look for a job with a zero tolerance policy with these types of issues
