T7 Torp damage reduction
I noticed Mainz CE had really high torp dmg reduction for a cruiser so I looked at other T7s.
Azuma, Siegfried, Mainz CE, Mainz, and Weimar are tied for the highest torp damage reduction for T7 cruisers with 22%, the same as Tirpitz, Lenin, Monarch, Bismarck, Odin, and Zieten and its better than Constellation.

Azuma and Siegfried make sense, Mainz and Weimar don't
I guess with Mainz the reason could be that the armor is weaker than the other Hipper hulls against shells, so the torp protection is a consolation prize of sorts.
No, still don't make sense. You are less likely to take a torpedo than a shell, specially in a cruiser
Question for you on the Mainz. Do you think WG will ever actually sell this ship straight up? I think it’s only in 2 crates with low drop chances right?
Unlikely. It's a strong ship (I wouldn't say OP), so they probably are hesitant to open the floodgates so to speak. They attempted to alter it by making Mainz and turning the original into a CE variant, but they didn't make any meaningful changes.
Thanks for the answer. I have another question for you, I heard that the Mainz could arguably be better than the CE, what’s your opinion on that?
Why, does it lose the Icebreaker or does it have weaker belt Armour because it seems just as tanky with heavier armament.
Mainz has the ice breaker but has 25mm plating instead of 27mm like Hipper and Eugen on the upper bow.
The two broken premium light cruisers have another feature that sets them beyond their peers, imagine my shock.
