I’ve wanted to do the same thing, I made my own version to use hosted images but you’d need some extra functionality that can ideally extract the cover art from the media data but not sure if there is much like that which can be done programmatically. Might look into it more sometime. I guess sure a screenshot might work but not as ideal.

Hello, I've never written an mpv plugin before, but I want to make/edit an existing Discord rpc plugin. I primarily use mpv for music, and would like to display the cover art. (to my knowledge) mpv loads cover art from either a cover.ext file or from data embedded into the audio file itself. I know it's possible to get the current file location, but I am only concerned with the video stream (really a still image.)
