Actual exchange at my therapy intake session
Therapist: what’s your sexual orientation? Me: ummmm straight??? But the thing is I never had any sort of crush in my mid twenties. I mean I like sex…some would say a bit too much but it’s like fun mechanics to me even though I almost never orgasm with another person. There is no bond there is no emotional attachment or anything. I also don’t know what sexual attraction means. I mean I appreciate bodies on an aesthetic level like a artwork but I never want to see people naked and I think genitals are kinda weird. I pretty much always close my eyes or avert my gaze. Also the idea of sex with a woman isn’t a hard pass for me but I’ve never acted on it because of catholic guilt. And while I have crushes now the idea of having sex with them never really comes up. I just want to be around them and crave their approval…I guess I might be on the asexual spectrum but I’m not sure. Therapist: typing Asexual

At least you got one that believes in us.
Maybe it’s the area. I live in NYC therapists tend to be pretty accepting here. Or maybe I just got lucky
