Playing on a dedicated server with a couple friends, and I'm wondering if we need to be clearing the camps if we want good thralls to spawn? I've been doing it so far, but I can't find any info on it and I'm not sure if I'm wasting my time.

Yes.
You need to kill existing thralls for something better to respawn or you can download 4 tier only thralls mod which also makes camps harder
The game likes to think if you're comfortable in an area and kills things a lot it will throw harder enemies in that area.
Learned that the hard way as a noob at my first base. Now it's a feature for getting better thrawls.
Knocking them out will reset them also. Depending on your build and helpers that can actually be faster than killing them, you just don't get the loot unless you kill them after.
Isn't there a guaranteed alchemist in the volcano? Or like 75%?
He is there quite a lot. Where the poison gas is.
It’s definitely different on console for anyone who plays there. If you move out of render distance and back in the thralls all refresh I tested it as I wrote this
Yes, you do. If you don't kill them, they'll just stay until the server is reset.
Thanks, and in somewhere like New Asagarth, you need to kill them all, even the ones that look the same every time, because there's a small chance of a T4 thrall in basically every spot, right?
Depends what you're after. Some can be any type of thrall, but most are a set type. If you're after everything, yeah kill it all. If you want something specific, there are definitely ideal spawn points to farm instead of doing full clears.
Right now the biggest ones we're after is T4 blacksmith and alchemist, any recommendations? Other camps/areas are fine too
The best place for alchemists is probably Sepermeru. The street from the southernmost gate leads to a trio of alchemists in a circle. There's a pair of alchemists all the way in the back of NA outside a small hut.
What type of blacksmith? To just get any T4, Sep again. The northernmost gate leads to a spot with two guaranteed spawning right there just past the priests of set. There's more along the street below. If you want a bladesmith specifically, the western part of it has two blacksmiths, which are guaranteed to be bladesmiths if they spawn a T4.
Summoning Place for the Witch Doctor alchemist is a regular spawn, and the coolest imo. Sep city has a lot of blacksmith spawns but even getting a t3 can be a pain lately, so no real suggestion for those. I find blacksmiths and armourers the hardest to deliberately hunt.
Skinning will speed up the respawns. If you're not interested in T4 fighters you can leave the <T4s unconscious. A crafter will always spawn a random crafter. A combat will spawn a combat. I've seen two fighters and one archer, then two archers and one fighter. But a Blacksmith won't pop into the mix.
But New Asagarth has a T4 Chieftain that can either be combat or crafting thralls.
