What movie scene can be cited to show how a great actor improvises lines in response to an unexpected event?

In Rain Man , while Tom Cruise and Dustin Hoffman are locked in a phone booth to make a call, Hoffman suddenly exclaims, "Uh oh...fart!" » ( Oh, oh, prout! ).

The actor has just released flatulence. It wasn't in the script, it was a compelling natural need...

Rather than halt filming, Hoffman opted to incorporate the thing into the scene, acting out the incident while staying in character.

What is interesting is to see how Tom Cruise reacts to his partner's improvisation.

He does not allow himself to be destabilized and continues the scene. The two actors then invent their dialogues.

-Did you fucking fart? How can you stand it!

-I don't mind.

Brilliant example of two actors who embody their characters so deeply that they can face the unexpected by inventing lines that ring perfectly true.

Not without humor, Dustin Hoffman declared about this scene:

"I love this scene. It's my favorite in my entire filmography. I've never done anything I liked more, and that includes the Shakespeare plays I've performed."
