It Takes Two to Tango: Reave Them and Reap

Introduction

Like the N7 Destroyer I put out there, this combo may look familiar to regular players. Again because no one has explicitly mentioned before, I feel the need to write about it.

So the plan is simple. Like the Human Soldier/Engineer combo, this combo revolves around a designated BE primer and designated BE detonator. The primer in this case is a Reave user, which can prime multiple targets in a single cast, prime through walls, and with a relatively quick recharge time. The detonator is a Novaguard, which can constantly detonate BEs through the use of Biotic Charge and Nova.

The Drell Adept

What does he do?- He mainly acts as a Reave bot, constantly casting Reave so that the Novaguard can constantly detonate BEs. This results in massive damage. He should also be concerned about flanks and warning the Vanguard of potentially terrible situations.

How should I build him?- I'd do something like this as I tend to play this role.

What's important is having 6 ranks in Reave with Rank 4 Area Reave for efficient AoE priming for BEs. A low cooldown (100% or so) is also nice to keep chaining BEs. Having 6 ranks in Cluster Grenades is also nice in case of an emergency.

The Human Vanguard

What does he do?- He's the designated detonator by Novaguarding. Doing so allows for non-stop BEs, which is pretty good.

How do I build him?- I'm no expert on Vangaurds, let alone Novaguarding. I defer my judgement to someone else.

I do know that Novaguards need Half-Blast Nova and 6 ranks in both Nova and Biotic Charge for the best BEs. I also recommend Area Charge, because it's easy to get a 1000N+ force on Charge without going Rank 4 Damage Charge. A high cooldown is also important to keep on Charging. Lastly, a solid handle on Nova-cancelling will help with tanking.

Tactics

The tactics are very simple. The Drell Adept will Reave everything he can see while the Novaguard will Charge and Nova as fast as he can to detonate as many BEs as possible.

The Drell needs to make sure that the Novaguard doesn't get himself into a bad position that may easily kill him. This is achieved by having eagle eyes and calling out where enemies are. Enemies that can sync kill should be called out as those are a Novaguard's worst nightmare. The good news is that between Reave, Biotic Charge, Cluster Grenades, and a BE, there is usually enough force to stagger any enemy to force them out of a sync kill.

The Novaguard needs to be constantly detonating the BEs the Drell is priming and ensuring that there isn't too much heat on the Drell. Even with damage reduction from Reave, the Drell is quite squishy compared to a Novaguard. Remember your ABCs: Always Be Charging. The tanking aspect of a Novaguard will allow the rest of the team to cast powers freely and should be his first priority. While detonating BEs is good, tanking for the team is better.

Conclusion

Biotic Death Squads are always mean. These two members tend to be the crux of the squad by constantly detonating BEs on enemies. This is not the only pair that exploits rapid BE use. For example, the Reave user could be the Asari Justicar. She has Biotic Sphere that can allow for more BEs within the Sphere while improving damage reduction for the detonator. Or the primer could be the N7 Paladin, where Snap Freeze works wonders with Charge for juicy Cryo Explosions.

And the Novaguard can be replaced by a Shockwave user, as Shockwave can be rapidly casted and each Shockwave can detonate multiple BEs per cast. Use whatever you have on had, but the goal here is rapid priming and detonating of BEs over a group of enemies.

This combo works amazing with a other Adepts, especially those with Warp. Doing so will result in more BEs and may cause potato powered PCs to slow down to a crawl.
