After 2 years of work I'm quite proud of this achievement!

“UUUUUUUUUU…” “John Madden!” “Football!” “!?!?!?!?!?!?!?…” “brbrbrbrbrbrbr…” “Holla Holla Get Dollar!” “Snake? Snake?! Sake!” “Here Comes Another Chinese Earthquake!”
Every time I start watching that video I laugh so hard I send myself into a coughing fit and nearly fall out of my chair in pain.
This happened more than once..
oh god I haven't laughed this hard in months
fml I'm soaking my pillow with laughter tears
and i'm only halfway through the video
That one got scary! D:
I feel like I'm going to die of laughter every time I watch one of these videos.
Best one ever confirmed confirmed
The slo-mo part is what kills me...
hehehehe
Happens every time I play moonbase alpha
Maybe you should stop smoking
But.. I don't smoke.. at least not that I know of. Moreso the huge wave of cold/upper respiratory infections that came through my area (thankfully not flu, had that last year at this time).

Glad you beat the cancer.
It was touch & go...
That would've been awkward if he was just bald.
I thought he was just bald and it was a joke so I started laughing, went to his reply and immediately had a sad.
Seriously... I've never had cancer, I'm just a balding, skinny nerd who plays too many games.
[deleted]
More so if he had alopecia.
what do llamas have to do with this?
Congratulations and thank you for one of the coolest simulator games I've ever played!
Thank you for your support!
[deleted]
No time like the present... maybe pass the key onto someone else if you haven't redeemed it...
My co-worker keeps talking about your game. I'll have to give it a shot.
Wow congratulations for your product, I hope it will sell well :)
Thanks!
Is this similar/better than Kerbal Space Program?
It's nothing like KSP, it's focused on flying around and conducting missions using the LM.
I am a big fan of KSP as well by the way!
I admire your approach and outlook of this. I have been playing KSP for a few months now, and while I enjoy building my rockets and exploring the Kerbin System, your game seems to offer a different experience altogether.
I just checked it out on Steam and will consider buying it.
Thank you for your hard work on making accessible games that get people interested in space exploration.
Have you seen the Robbaz vids of him playing?
I've got 13 hours logged on Lunar Flight, I love your game so much. It took me a while to learn it well, but it's very satisfying once you do. (I was really glad when you came out with the Mars map for free.)
I got into KSP about a month ago and your game was a great intro to thinking the way you need to for this game style. My GF can't stand to watch me play either though, she finds space travel so boring for some reason ( unless it involves a TARDIS).
you need LM hats for this to sell on reddit.
If you were interested, you should consider asking to join the team (squad). From what I can tell, they are geographically diverse lot so to speak, and your experience speaks for itself.
Plus, the more people that work on it, the faster updates come out, which is a bonus for everyone!
I could grow a goatee better than that one in under 2 years.
That's a Soul'tee Patch..
Well excuuuuuuuuse me. :)
Bought your game the week it came out on Steam... damn good game. Never knew it was a one man production, would have thought it was a mid-sized studio that made it.
Good job, hope you continue making games.
Did you create that? And can I have your shirt? :-)
I did create Lunar Flight, you can find it on Steam ;) I don't think my wife would be happy with me if I gave it away, it was an Xmas present.
Xbox indie pls.
My brother bought this a couple weeks ago on steam while he was here helping me recover from surgery. We had a great time playing and learning all the controls. This game is rich in detail and challenging. It was an excellent purchase. I would definitely recommend it.
You live my dream.
Make your dream a reality!
I'm working on it. Just a long long way from the goal.
Looks cool, bought it on Steam. Great looking game!
Cheers!
wait, so what the fuck did you do?
IRL: I'm a stay at home dad now, I'm making a small amount from the game to be able to do so and focus on more Indie projects. Did that for most of 2012. In 2011 I was a Level Designer on Happy Feet 2 the game for KMMG and then after that I had a 6 month contract with QinetiQ where I worked on a virtual reality training simulator for the Coal Mining industry.
In the game well here's the Steam Page Link, it has everything you'd want to know and some videos: http://store.steampowered.com/app/208600/
Video Page: http://store.steampowered.com/video/208600/2028290?snr=1_4_4__107_1
I see! Congrats then, did you do it all single-handedly? If so, I would very much enjoy that credit reel:
start
Game by sh0v0r
end
unless you list every little thing you did one-by-one. Special Thanks is okay, but for the rest, it's dreadful when they don't have a good soundtrack running.
i forgot how i got here. awesome sauce though, broman.
He CLEARLY has two-hands...
Game by sh0v0r's left hand
Assisted by sh0v0r's right hand
Produced by sh0v0r's right hand
As an aside--would you ever consider making something mining related for gamers? Like, Minecraft Reality Edition? You'd be surprised (or perhaps not) as to the number of people out there interested in realistic simulators of those things. Something about the mundane world of labor trades can be quite appealing. Hence, Farm Simulator.
Ever checked out Wurm Online? Notch was one of the devs early in it's life cycle.
I did, and I like the concept, but unfortunately the engine gave me motion sickness. I'm also considering trying Mortal Online again (which I beta tested) as that had some similar concepts.
I wish ATITD would go F2P already, that was fun too.
That looks sick! Gj crew
As long as you can name your astronaut Fartbutt, I'm happy.
By all means call your pilot 'Fartbutt' !
"Houston, this is Fartbutt."
Come in Fartbutt we smell you!
Love the shirt ;)
Congratz bro! Id love to make games! Also lunar lander games are totally the shit! been looking for a good one for years will pick this up in a few months after I get a job again and pay off my debt haha.
Also, Was this on RockPaperShotgun.com? I remember something about a sickass lunar lander game on there a few months back.
http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2011/12/15/thrust-for-life-lunar-flight/ http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/01/09/impressions-lunar-flight-beta/ http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/02/27/lunacy-unleashed-lunar-flight/ http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/08/28/curiouser-and-curiouser-lunar-flight-goes-to-mars/
YEAH! I remember thinking "thats gunna be badass" Does steam have a demo?
Sorry there isn't a demo yet...
I love your game. It was also very classy to throw the Mars pack in for free. The moment i saw this game i had to have it. I will gladly buy some DLC as well. I look forward to what you create!
Just a quick question, arnt you sh0v0r i used to play bf2 with when i was living in Aus?
Indeed I am and we used to smash them good in the BF2 ladders!
Indeed we did. Grats on the game. Ill go ahead and get a copy. Looked nice from what i saw in the review. :)

So... Is this thing on Steam? If it is, I migh pick it up... A Moon-landing simulator sounds kind of fun :3
It is on steam and it's quite fun!
Oh! Awesome! Definetly not what I expected, but looks cool nontheless. I'll see if I can check it out later, when I have some money to throw around!
Why not try it out now, I just sent you a free Steam key, come back and let us know what you think... ;)
As someone who loves space I'll have to get that for sure. Sadly I first have to complete all of my current Steam games before starting anything new (/r/fragcakechallenge). But I'm definitely looking forward to my own moon landing :)
[deleted]
Kerbal space program. Check it out
Kerbal Space Program! :) r/kerbalspaceprogram
That's really cool that you were able to overcome Australia's rich tradition of moon landings and make an awesome game using only your imagination. Over here in America we usually just build rockets and park them right next to the Sea of Tranquility, but you know what man... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kYgyTJsthrA
...how did you know I was Australian? :)
Woman's intuition.
Twist: I'm a dude.
oh... of course silly me!
[deleted]
This guy
Whos 'we'. You didn't do a damn thing. You weren't even born. Nice that you feel pride for someone else's achievements though. keep up the good work murica
Second Twist: I'm actually Michael Collins.
Is it like Kerbal Space Program? i'm definetelly gona try that
He said below in another comment that it focuses more on the Lunar Module and conducting missions with it.
A different experience, but it compliments KSP pretty well, in my opinion.
It's kind of like ArmA's armory in a sense that you get given missions at random times and you complete them for money to do bigger and better missions with better gear or to unlock new areas.
Essentially the missions are manipulation of inertia and using individual thrusters to most efficiently travel a distance or the likes. Prepare to spend a lot of time learning it though as it'll take a fair bit to learn the controls and the gameplay mechanics, and once you learn it the game can become pretty tedious after a while.
That sounds awesomelly complicated, i'll definetly buy that game when i have the money, and i'll definetely learn how to spell "definetlly" properly. ^^^seriously,i ^^^have ^^^no ^^^idea ^^^how ^^^to ^^^spell ^^^that ^^^word
de-finite-ly
That is how I remember at least.
It should be either Mondlandefährensimulator or Mondlandefähren-Simulator, but not Mondlandefähren Simulator.
Stimmt! Und nun auf zur geheimen Rechtschreibnazimondstation!
Better tell the publisher.
Mondlandefährenlandungssimulator!
Mondlandefähren-Mondlandfahrsimulator! So haben Sie noch nie mondlandfahrsimuliert!
Jop, maybe it's just a font where the "-" looks like" "
Congrats, that's quite an accomplishment!
Hey, I got your game when it was in an Indie Royale bundle. I suck at it but it's fun! Congrats on your success.
Bought your game because it was cheap one day. Worth more than I paid for it.
Thanks for making it.
Such a nice story, dude.. I love to read this kind of things, even more when I want to became a game developer, here I haven't steam, but I'll look for it at home, I guess I've some paysafecard money from Christmas Sales.
And, well, congratulations seeing your dream come true. :D (Apologize my english)
Go to hell.
First I'll have to leave it.
Looks really nice, was this built with Unity4? It would be great to see a Linux version!
I guess not because he says that it took him 4000+ hours to finish the game. This is quite a long time, considering he made it while working in a day job. Unity 4 is there for a short time, and switching the engine at this stage would not be a very good idea, from a design point of view. It may not be too difficult to update it though.
Congrats man...will pick up a copy for support. =]. Got any advice for someone who's trying to get an idea to turn into an amazing accomplishment as yours? Im still in the drawing board phase.
Don't give up, start something, anything, don't think about it too much just start doing it.
Gotcha! Congrats once more.
[deleted]
Ideas come to you - what you're doing is the hardest way to create something IMO - good luck though!
wow dude. i loved the classic game. I used to play it everyday in my high school days. I want it!
Does the game have a way to win?
And any kind of multiplayer support?
I doubt the second but it doesn't hurt to ask.
By win I mean, Do you win by buying everything and completing all the missions etc.
Or is there a special goal you are aiming for the entire game.
Become #1 on the Pilots Leaderboard, complete all the Acheivements.
Not the answer I was hoping for, Cheers!
That's a no.
Will purchase, good job.
Will pirate, bad job.
Absolutely loved this game, with a joystick it's extremely fun! I was really pleased when you added Mars! thanks for that! 10/10
How many more exclamation marks can you put in that?
Any plans to release a linux version?
Yes, I'll be looking to get that addressed soon. I have done some limited testing of a build already on Ubuntu but there were a couple issues I need to look into first.
Please, please, please... don't make it reliant on apt-get or other „Ubuntu”isms.
It'll jut be built as a standalone linux version it should work on any distro. Is that the correct term?
[deleted]
Unity = Linux compatible?????
I need to actually make the Linux build and test it, it works but has some issues I need to resolve before a Linux version will be available. Hopefully not too long...
Take my money once it's fixed
Or if you need a beta tester......
I just bought it to support your work and hoping you release a Linux version sometime.
congratulations on finishing i will try it out on steam when i get some extra money
went check out you game on steam and discovered it was already on my wishlist, will be sure to move it to the top! have you had mac support sine launch?
Mac gets updates the same time as the PC version on Steam.
I'm confused. You aren't an attractive woman with a game idea that is going to revolutionize the industry but so far you've only drawn a couple pictures and learned a few buzz words. I don't know what to do since you've actually put time and energy into this awesome game.
Just wanted to say thanks for reminding me about this awesome game! I wached some u tube videos awhile ago on it and it looked so fun.
Woah this looks awesome.
I was like man, I remember playing something that sounds like that when I was a kid. I check out the steam page and what do I see, it is a remake of Lunar Lander, which is what I was thinking of.
Best of luck with the game!!
Wow pretty cool stuff dude! My best wishes to you and your future projects!
I'll definitely check out your game once I get the chance! This is the first game I can think of that simulates the flight around moon. (except for that old Lunar Lander game for atari, or was it DOS?)
Can't wait to see what other games you make in the future! Cheers!
P.S. It's actually very heartwarming to see that reddit picked up your post. An actual achievement that definitely deserves support and attention. All reddit is about lately is somebody losing weight or other insignificant stuff. I find a game like this made by a single person is far more impressive than 90% on reddit. I can only imagine the pure force of will it took you to make this on your own. Rock on man!!
Thank you!
GON picked it up and loved it; most Aussie gamers I talk to know of it too.
[deleted]
Looking like Paul wall ?
For the next version. Multiplayer, race to capture things, with lasers. Also add some ground support vehicles. With guns on them.
Is there a way to mod this?
I looked at it a bit, is it like a flight simulator type game? Seems cool, but may be awhile before I'd be able to buy it.
You look super familiar, do you twitch? I know I saw someone on twitch for hours playing this but maybe it's not you.
Looks really great. I may pick it up (after I finally managed a moon landing in Kerbal space program ... )
I clicked on the link below, not expecting it to be available for Mac ... but it was ! Nice job, who did the Mac port? or did you simply Ciderize the Windows version?
You can thank Unity 3D for its Mac Build option. I bought an iMac 21" to test it on.
Good on you mate, from a fellow Aussie dev going it alone (ex Infinite Interactive). Hope I do even half as well with my own project as you seem to be doing with yours.
Damn my ISP's DNS for being on the fritz today, I wish I'd caught this earlier. If you see this: Got any advice for someone looking to get their game on Desura? I mean, I've spoken with them about what it takes, but any tips you could give would be handy. Ta anyway.
Desura is pretty easy to get onto, they're great guys, just get in touch with them and start setting up your games page, you can actively engage an audience there who will be happy to beta test.
Thanks for the speedy reply.
I definitely got that impression talking to them, they're very friendly fellows. I'm actually looking into the possibility of setting up my game with one of their alpha funding programs, though I've also got Kickstarter tagged as either an alternate possibility, or as part of the public awareness/web presence they indicated a game needed for them to host it at the alpha level.
What do you think of Kickstarter, especially for projects that are basically one-man? Would I be better off putting some work into adding a pledge system on the game's website (when it has one, which will be soon) as it sounds like you did for your game, or would it be better to go for a Kickstarter with it's potential high-visibility and reassuring all-or-nothing funding, d'you think?
If you want to try Kickstarter you need someone in the US to help you as it is not open to Australians. To be successful on there will require a lot of work to really sell yourself, it's almost like pitching a game to a publisher for green lighting.
The main thing I believe in and I always tell other people is to make sure you are doing things for the right reasons. Don't go into development with money on your mind. Focus on what gets you passionate about your idea, make sure you can build it and don't let your grand visions blow out your scope and ability to execute on. If you're making something niche, find your audience and engage them. I built Lunar Flight in my spare time for most of it's development, I didn't have a budget, I had to work a day job and be a husband and father to two young boys. It's important to enjoy what you're doing, if it starts to feel like work then take a step back and try to take it all in and recapture that spark that drives you to continue.
Anywhere I can see videos of this bad boy before I take the dive?
Looks very interesting!
Right here: http://store.steampowered.com/video/208600/2028290?snr=1_4_4__107_1
Worked at Krome? Any chance you were in Vendetta?
Your game looks really good and when I finish moving house and all those associated expenses I'll pick it up. Congratulations on finishing something you so obviously enjoyed working on. Would love to see more games like this that add the thrill of science into gaming.
On a side note, were you always interested in space exploration or did you just think it would be an awesome and novel game idea?
I am fascinated by Space and the various space programs around the world. I'm not a fanatic but it is something I find particularly interesting.
[deleted]
Giantbomb did a quick look of your game a little while back.
They did unfortunately it was only viewable to subscribers.
Adding this to my wishlist!
Did you work on star wars battlefront while working at pandemic?
No I worked at the Australian Studio which developed Destroy All Humans, the last game I worked on for Pandemic was The Saboteur.
The Saboteur was a great game. While playing I could taste in the air that is was the Magnum Opus of a dying studio. Too bad it did not get the recognition it deserved.
The Saboteur!? Holy hell- I fucking love that game. I still hop in just to drive around the French countryside and kill some Nazis.
I added the game to my wishlist, hope to pick it up soon. I love the look of the game, and looks like a challenge.
Fuck you.
Destroy all Humans was such a weird game, If I can recall correctly, I played it once at my friend's place and the alien questions why the cow eats from its mouth and the alien thinks its disgusting.
Destroy All Humans was so awesome!
[deleted]
Release a demo and I seriously might buy this.
