Can someone explain the different snapshots of ChatGPT. What version should I be using?

Serious replies only :closed-ai:

The options I have are:

  • Default (GPT 3.5)
  • gpt-4-0314 (GPT 4 March 14th Snapshot)
  • gpt-4-32k (GPT 4 with 32k token limit)
  • gpt-4-32k-0314 (GPT 4 March 14th Snapshot with 32k token limit)

Can someone explain to me what the differences in snapshots mean? What is a 'token'?

I previously paid for Plus, but I didn't see much difference and I cannot afford that right now.

I am a light casual user. I don't need anything that is capable of huge work.

Which one do I choose? Thanks.

What's the use case? Test both 3.5 and 4 and compare the results. Evaluate cost efficiency. Use 3.5 if it performs well enough, and switch to 4 if not.

Not for work. Just for random questions and tasks so I can use it to start my own research.

I am just wondering is there much of a difference between them?
