[Advice wanted] Garden State Parkway coin toll plaza violation

Advice

I'm a temporary visitor to NJ (and indeed the US), so I'm not used to some of the specifics of travelling in the area, including the toll plazas.

I was driving today through the Eatontown North toll plaza coming on to Garden State Parkway. I don't have EZPass as I'm not permanent here, and I didn't realise it was going to be coin only - I had some bills but not $2.10 in coins. I had no option but to drive through without paying.

I understand that it takes a picture of your license plate and sends you a mail with the toll to pay plus extra fees or whatever. However, to add extra complication, I was driving a ZipCar so it's obviously not registered to me.

So my question is - is there some way I can go online, or number I can call, and provide the reg to pay the toll now? I have no idea how it will work otherwise with ZipCar etc, and just want to avoid the possibility of some hefty fine.

Nope. You have to give up your 1st born to the state and never come here again!!!

Zipcar will likely charge you. I had this problem recently in a rental. I had my E-ZPass with me sadly it was in my pocket and didn’t register. 🤷‍♂️

 According to support.zipcar.com

Toll Charges All toll charges will be billed to your account after the trip ends. It may take a few weeks for Zipcar to learn of the tolls from the municipality, so it may take some time for the charges to appear.
