Need help splitting an .mp4/.mkv audio from OBS
Hello,
I've recorded a test podcast using OBS, with three web cameras and two RODE podmic's plugged into Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 3rd gen, but I guess it's not very important to my question. After two test recordings - one into an .mp4 file and one into .mkv file I have two files with video and audio split into two tracks: One track is the Host microphone and the other one is the guest microphone. When I play it using VLC I have the option to change the tracks to "solo" out one of the conversation participants, so the data must be in the file, but when i drop the files to reaper, doesn't matter if it's the .mp4 file or the .mkv file when I use the Item: Explode multichannel audio or MIDI to new one-channel items function Reaper splits the file into two identical waves from only the guest channel, the second track according to VLC.
So my question is: Is it possible to easily split and export the audio from the .mp4 or .mkv file directly using reaper? I know I could use some other software to export the tracks, but I'm not the guy who enhances the audio and my boss is not very tech savvy and the whole point of this setup is to make it easy for him to just send one file.
Thanks for help

I'm actually not sure about Reaper but you could use Avidemux to load the video and extract each audio track as a wav. Then use Reaper to do your editing and mixing. Then back to Avidemux to render the video file with the new mixed audio (in a single wav file).
As a bonus you could also edit the video with the original audio first, if you have things to clean up, then export the audio for Reaper work.
There are lots of other video tools out there but Avidemux is free, no frills and reasonably intuitive.
