Does it get better?

I got scammed on Friday night,I paid a very small amount of money then stopped talking too them,they eventually gave up talking too me,I went too bed and woke up the next day and they had not messaged me again ,or leaked anything,it's been a few days now,and genuinely feel like I'm in the clear,they know there not getting any money,so there not gonna stick around.but I feel like an absolute shell of myself,I've not stopped thinking about it since Saturday morning,it is genuinely the worst thing to ever happen too me.i know it's unlikely,but if the person wanted too ,they could leak the pics next week,next month,in 6 months,in a year,and there is nothing I can do,I know the odds of that are astronomically low,and in reality they have already moved on too the next victime by now,but I genuinely have felt like an entirely different person since only happened,does it get better ? And how long does it take? Thanks for reading ❤️

That’s an eternity for these scammers. You’re almost certainly safe. Their goal isn’t to ruin your life or anything, they just wanted quick cash.

Leaks are very uncommon. It’s all scare tactics. Their objective is quick cash and moving on to get more money.

If you block and change all your usernames & display names you’re generally fine as long as they can’t search you on socials.

If they have phone number, block and ignore. If they persist it’s generally east and free to change your phone number. Good for your peace of mind.

When they can’t contact you anymore, the scam is over.

It will definitely get better each day as nothing happens and you’ll start feeling even better than before. If you get anxious, use some positive interrupters to distract your thoughts onto something positive. Put on happy music, text/make plans with friends, and watch some YouTube or do some stretches to distract yourself.

Needed to hear this,i know that the odds of the pics being leaked are 0% by now,the person has probably forgotten who I am by now,but just can't believe how naive I was ,if it sounds too good to be true ,it is

Thanks man,I'm like 100% sure I'm clear now,but still can't believe I got played like that ,and it's tough seeing all the new ppl who have been got by it too on here.But I am still yet to see one instance where the person has actually leaked the pics

Agreed man they just try to get quick cash and move on. When they can’t threaten you they move on and forget about you. They follow the cash and if you don’t provide it they won’t waste their time.

I’m in the same boat, it’s been abt 24hrs since I last talked to the scammer and I feel terrible. Being around my family feels weird… even going abt my normal everyday life feels weird and my anxiety is through the roof

Same here. My parents love me and helped me through it but I can’t bring myself to look them in the eyes when they’re talking to me. Everything feels off and it feels terrible

Definitely one of the worst things a person could go through, it’s been 24 hrs since I’ve talked to the scammer and the anxiety is driving me crazy, it feels so weird being around my family everything feels weird

Yeah I know EXACTLY what u mean,I can't even explain how I feel,I just feel...weird? .it feels weird being around the same ppl I've literally been around all my life,it feels weird going about my daily activities ,talking to friends etc.I know this feeling will go soon but it's awful

We’ve all felt exactly the same man, trust me! The paranoia and “what ifs” are worse than the actual scam itself. The thing that worked for me was telling a few of my close friends, they all thought it was hilarious but were all supportive nonetheless. In fact, laughing at the situation was a massive help for me as it kinda took away all the anxiety and paranoia. Anyway, it’s been over a year now, I never heard from them again, nothing was ever leaked and I don’t even think about it anymore (except for when I feel like giving myself a facepalm 🤦‍♂️ lol But trust me, each day gets easier until you just kinda stop thinking about it without knowing it,if that makes sense.
