I choose me

General Discussion

I absolutely became better at giving service in the way people needed it when I chose myself. I became a better mom when I chose myself. The overemphasis on self sacrifice made me physically ill and exhausted, weak, emotionally burnt out. Because I was completely giving myself away to my ex husband and the church.

I understand this idea of sacrifice, but it goes way overboard with Mormonism, and they talk about it in such a beautiful sweet gentle way that you think it’s the right thing. But it’s not. I might loose some people here if you see new age spirituality stuff as just as woo woo and magical thinking like mormonism.

But the “I choose me” mentality and the oneness flow and presence stuff that opposed or offset what I learned in mormonism is what actually worked. Sacrifice is not sustainable. Sacrifice does not work. Sacrifice actually kills people.

So I’m done with this…. keep on working, keep on serving, keep on trying, forget yourself and go to work… stuff.

I do choose me. Because everything breaks down when I don’t. It’s just simply how it works.

They want to exploit us by having us completely serve the church, and to not pay attention to our kids, by serving so much and just throwing them into church things. And throwing only church things into our fams with family home evening etc..

It’s setting everyone up for conditional relationships and that is not healthy. “I choose me” is healthy.
