Confused by Jason Aaron’s Avengers Run - am I missing tie-ins?

I decided to read the Jason Aaron Avengers run and I’m coming across a repeat problem. It’s as if key parts of the story are missing or happen between issues. For example, I liked Age of Khonshu as a concept but it came out of nowhere. One issue they hint at a coming Moon Knight threat and the next issue the entire world is under Khonshu’s control. I just got to Enter the Phoenix and it’s the same thing. An issue giving the origin of the prehistoric Phoenix character, and prior hints that the Phoenix is coming. Next issue is Captain America fighting Doom in a tournament, I guess (I just read that scene before coming here). Did anyone else find this to be an issue in his run? Am I missing tie-ins that would flesh out these stories (and others in his run)?

I checked Unlimited but it doesn’t reference any tie ins.
