Not a fanboi, but it's really relaxing to watch Merlini play Dota. I don't know why, but maybe its because he's very nonchalant about his games even when he loses.
0-8 Furion and still smiling/having a good time, I don't get it.
It's all about reaching Dota enlightenment. I guess after he won all those world championships with MYM he entered some sort of Dota zen
He has attained god status, he has to be zen.
The greatest generosity is non-attachment.
Yup. As weird/creepy as it sounds, if I see Merlini streaming when I'm about to go to bed, I turn it on and fall asleep to it. Something about his stream is so relaxing. It's also nice to know there won't be any sudden loud noises on his stream too.
Because "Trance around the World" yo.
Yeah it definitely puts me to sleep.
Above and Beyond is better than any "Sounds of the Ocean" cd I've ever found.
He also listens to chill trance, cool guy overall
Ben "trancearoundtheworld" Wu
Sounds abt right
I love him for introducing me to this, Above and Beyond are awesome.
But now I can't play DotA without some sort of techno playing in the background. :\
i think part of it is the sound of him clicking and typing. or something.
Yeah. Its jarring to go from his stream to SingSing's which is all screaming and calling people 'faggots'.
To each his own I guess
Needs BoTs icons everywhere.
It's cool that he's making a website, but the post title had me thinking there might actually be some content on it :-/
Yeah, I don't make posts very often and couldn't figure out how to edit it to reflect that it was mostly just an announcement/placeholder website. Sorry about that. :(
maybe it would have been a better idea to link when the site has actually been launched, i don't really see the point in this submission
The best part about watching Merlini is how mad the butt hurt anti fans get about it.
There seem to be so many of them and I don't understand it. I love SingSing and can sort of get why people would dislike him, but I don't see why they care so much about it. But I'm amazed someone can actually manage to hate Merlini.
DarkFalco is Merlini's hater No.1. =)
I'm always afraid DarkFalco and Gullin15 will form some sort of mediocre evil pubstack supergroup.
Did you play inhouses during WC3 DotA days?
Merlini was notoriously bm.
Why's this getting downvoted. Everyone was badmannered because everyone knew everyone else and it was a tight-knit community where ragging on everyone else was the norm. Thick skin yo. Grow it.
There's a difference between ribbing between friends and full on raging when things don't go your way.
Merlini fell into the later.
He might be different now. I'm just providing context. That's all.
inhouses
Well there you go. Expecting people to act needlessly civil while playing with friends and good acquaintances seems pretty dumb.
I'm not trying to start a war here. But let's drop the hero worship, okay?
Not everybody knew one another playing IHs back in those days. They were mostly NADota. My friends at the time were talented so I played with quite a few "pros."
Some were BM. Some weren't.
Ribbing is not BM. Raging is. I know the difference and I'm just providing context. That's all.
The only reason I've ever insulted Merlini is because his fans act like he has pro-level skill. Like when Universe joined Dig, many commented "it's a shame it wasn't Merlini" as if he's good enough to be on Dig or he's anywhere as good as Universe.
Is there any bio about Merlini? I would like to learn more about him.
so if its soon in valve time its gonna a few years.

3rd one is soon.
Nope, it is "Coming Soon". Look at #13.
fair enough
Neat. Interested in what he decides to put on it.
In Valve time? Guess it's coming in 10 years.
I think he'll be puting not only he's video tutorials(which are great btw) but some wrote guides like the playdota's tutorials. Looking foward to it.
I dont watch any streams really (unless its a tournament cast, i dont care for pros playing pubs), so I must ask why is merlini still so popular? he hasnt been a part of the competitive scene since dota1 (apart from some recent AL standins) so im not really sure why he commands so much more attention than someone like eternalenvy who just captained the DH winners and has a lot of good insight (and gets like 0 viewers)
Ahh, please let this subreddit not become a circlejerk like r/starcraft2 pleaaaase.
I'm really curious as to what he needs a website for. Currently he's just a streamer, so what would he need outside Twitch, Twitter and Facebook?
He's creating video tutorials! He did one a bit ago about understanding day/night cycle and vision that was pretty good. The plan, to my understanding, is for him to host videos on the site that he's created.
Same reason Day9 has one, VoDs and revenue.
Adsense.
Merlini is a god...I'm sure of this.

This guy dominates the streams hard. I kinda hate it.
From what I've seen, he has the best commentary on his own play and doesn't have an attitude problem when playing in pubs like most other top streamers.
I agree, he has a very good attitude about the game and plays quite professionally.
Then why does it make you hate that he dominates the streams?
It just seems unfair for 1 person to have all the viewers, and there are other streamers who have 3-10 viewers.
I know a guy called Kyubashi who only gets about 15 viewers at a time, even though he is quite entertaining / educational and always responds to his viewers.
He cringed at FnC's Naix. Every time.
Who wouldn't? Phase, Drums, Vlads almost every game is pretty cringe-worthy! =P
And apparently works, if it gets the job done then hey, it gets the job done

thats fucking hilarious.
All the "uhs"
I couldn't help but giggle at this one! Gotta love Merlini!
The only reason people think Merlini is good because Merlini is constantly posting here about how he's good.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure Merlini made that poster about himself to brag.
/s
Or the fact that he played a huge part in making what Dota has become. But your explanation seems good too.
In what way, exactly?
For one, isn't he credited with making the BoT Tinker build? The only build ever used when playing seriously nowadays?
Jungling is enough of an answer. If you look how important jungling has become in the game, you'd know. All that was pretty much started by Merlini in competitive Dota.
