Property Tax Increased by 10X?!
This week I got a letter from the City Assessor, and it was a real gut punch. I own a condo, and suddenly the amount I owe the city for property taxes now exceeds what I owe the county. I'm not talking about a "rate increase" from this school board fiasco, my bill went from ~$1500/yr to $18,000. Retroactively for the last year, and proactively from now on. I actually do not know if I can afford to keep my home, and I literally bought this shit like 2 years ago. My neighbors are all starting to look at moving, but the amount of tax is so significant that our property values have gone down. Anybody looking at the expense of owning a home in our building has to factor in $1500 a month in taxes just to the city.
I'm not gonna lie, this is has got me feeling pretty "pitchforks and torches" about city hall. Am I the only person this has happened to? Anybody wanna combine forces and sue something, anybody, anything that moves, to try and recover the lost property values from this?
Tl;DR: I got a letter from the government the other day, opened it read it, it said they were suckers.
PS: Yes I vote, shut up.
