Should I swap my intel 13” MBP 2020 for a M1 MBA 2020?

I have a 8gb 256gb intel MBP from 2020, and my partner has the 2020 MBA also base specs but M1. He’s talking about selling his Mac, is it worth us swapping? Would I be more future proofed with the M1 over the intel?
