Caraviello on fair municipal wages
I was trying to catch up on candidates by listening to Medford Bytes (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/medford-bytes/id1591707053) and came across this segment in this episode (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/rick-caraviello-candidate-for-mayor/id1591707053?i=1000630662465) at around the 10:00 mark. The host asks if he voted in favor of a cost of living increase for city hall employees. He says that he did vote YES and goes on about how it's important.
The episode then plays back a recording of his vote, which was actually NO. https://library.municode.com/ma/medford/munidocs/munidocs?nodeId=5bfaf98ee9673&fbclid=IwAR2veWBgyhpv9FhADESAn-zsSD4Gyvc1PGrXxM79M15Km6mTzxPriXFOVx8
I was surprised at the how blatant the lying was here. Now, admittedly, I stopped being able to tell what the average modern voter cares about in the last few years, so this might not matter to a lot of people, but I thought I'd share in case it does.

How hasn’t anyone mentioned that the reason he didn’t vote for this was because it was a raise for the current Mayor as a non-union employee?
So the economic development director which Caraviello thinks is such an important position and the entire planning staff who bring in millions of dollars in grants, the DEI director, recreation director, law office staff including the paralegal, health dept staff, etc shouldn’t get a 2% cost of living increase they hadn’t had since January 2020 because they aren’t in a union? How are we supposed to attract and retain talent to fill these critical roles that require advanced degrees, work long hours (and are exempt from overtime because they are “professionals”), get yelled at and disrespected, and on top of that can’t expect to make even a penny more than they did for 3 years because “tHey aReN’t uNiON!”
