Drop-in judo for kids?

Activities & Events

Shot in the dark, but since I'm not finding much in r/judo, I thought I'd ask here. I'm visiting Seoul, and because Korea is a big judo country, my kid (who's 11) and I would like to work out while we're there.

I'm having trouble finding judo clubs that take visitors. The Seoul Y Judo Club is very welcoming to foreigners, but they don't have a kids' class. Any help appreciated!

I'm visiting Seoul this summer, and I think it would be cool to do some judo in Korea with my kid (age 11). Are there any foreigner-friendly places like the Kodokan we could drop in to do a workout? (I understand Korean to a degree but don't speak at a functional level.)

I found couple of leads in a previous thread, but I thought I'd open a new one in case there's anything else.

Hi. I have to move some of my RSS feeds for my sites. I'm planning on responding to requests at the old address with a 301 (moved permanently) that points the feed reader to the new address. Eventually, I'm going to have to not respond at the old address.

Does anyone know if Feedly will note this change in address, then look for the feed at the redirected address?

Where are the complete IJF rules?

Competing and Tournaments

You'd think they'd be front and center at ijf.org, but instead, they link to a long list of documents that include *updates* to the rules, but not all of the rules. The closest I can find is this PDF from 2019:

https://78884ca60822a34fb0e6-082b8fd5551e97bc65e327988b444396.ssl.cf3.rackcdn.com/up/2020/07/IJF_Sport_and_Organisation_Rul-1594651794.pdf

Do people just use this document then apply all of the updates since then to get the full set of rules?

Also, side question: That document says this about stalling in Article 18:

I've wanted to visit New Zealand for a long time, but the only window our family has for a long trip is June-August. (We're in the US.) We like hiking and seeing natural phenomena like hot mud pools but aren't really into winter sports. Most travel guides are all about skiing when they talk about New Zealand winter.

It looks like the north island winter is fairly mild (https://www.climatestotravel.com/climate/new-zealand/auckland). Any thoughts about whether a winter trip is actually going to be fun for non-skiers?

I'm trying to point a friend to season 4 (the Haitian revolution), but I'm finding it surprisingly hard. The official site (https://thehistoryofrome.typepad.com/revolutions\_podcast/) organizes by date. Same with the libsyn site (https://revolutionspodcast.libsyn.com/). Is there any url I can give someone so they can just listen to season 4 without searching or downloading an app?

Failing that, I guess I can just share a link to 4.01, and then leave it up them.

The MBTA approved a bus route redesign (https://www.mbta.com/projects/bus-network-redesign) in 2022 and those changes are going to go into effect soon. (The MBTA site says starting in December 2024.) It involves a lot of service cuts to Medford that will make it hard for a lot of people to get where they need to go, particularly older folks that don't drive and can't walk long distances.

I haven't heard much about these changes before seeing these flyers being posted by one woman. (Huge respect to her for getting the word out.) Her flyer highlights the following cuts from the MBTA site:

- #96 won't serve Boston Ave. and will terminate

Apologies if this is too far from core judo discussion. I'll understand if this is deleted.

But I was rewatching Flight of the Conchords, a comedy show about musicians from New Zealand, and at one point, there is a fight when they kick a bongo player out of the band:

Jemaine appears to throw with tani otoshi, then follows up into kesa gatame variant. That doesn't seem like something someone would do instinctively. Has anyone in New Zealand trained with him?

I was trying to catch up on candidates by listening to Medford Bytes (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/medford-bytes/id1591707053) and came across this segment in this episode (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/rick-caraviello-candidate-for-mayor/id1591707053?i=1000630662465) at around the 10:00 mark. The host asks if he voted in favor of a cost of living increase for city hall employees. He says that he did vote YES and goes on about how it's important.

The episode then plays back a recording of his vote, whic

I recently got a new computer and put Ubuntu 22.04.1 on it. I have the Moonlander, and everything is fine as expected except that autoshift doesn't seem to work in Terminal. Long presses on keys yield their usually lowercase, unshifted characters. (It works everywhere else.)

On my old computer, I was running Ubuntu 20, and autoshift was fine in Terminal.

Does anyone have any idea about what could be going on?

The two middle schools, Andrews and McGlynn, are a few hundred feet away from each other, which is strange. My best guess is that those were the buildings that were available when the school district needed to expand middle school capacity, but I'd like to hear the definitive history, if anyone has it. (I'm having trouble searching for this history.)

Hello!

My family is looking at places to move, among them Halifax. We're particularly interested in how the school experience is. I've gotta say, the HRCE web site is a lot better than most school district web sites, but I'm still not able to figure some things out:

  1. What is the student-teacher ratio in Halifax elementary schools? If I visit individual school sites are they listed there? (I looked at one and didn't see it.)
  2. Is the multi-teacher model common in elementary schools there, meaning that classrooms each have a lead teacher and an assistant teacher or paraprofessional that also helps out?
  3. Are there commonly specialists to help out with t
