I died
Literally not figuratively. Woke up to extreme chest pain early Wednesday morning. Paramedics came and got me to our local hospital. Everything was looking good and getting ready to be discharged. Then bam. I went into full cardiac arrest in front of the care team. Last thing I remember was watching someone doing cpr on me. Then I woke up in a different hospital in ICU with stents in my heart and tubes coming out of everywhere. Alive. Hurting but alive. Very lucky because this failure is normally fatal. But because of outstanding efforts of medical people and going into arrest in front of them I'm alive.
My beloved wife has been wonderful despite being stuck in a skilled nursing facility. We have not texted or spoke like this to each other in a long time. Nothing else matters. This woman is my rock despite being on the rocks herself. I miss her greatly. Can't wait to get out of here so I can go see her. To hold her hand once again. Even my daughters have visited me. They cleaned the house and tended to the cats. I have an awesome family.
Three days later I am being discharged. I've still got a tough road ahead but with my wife and daughters support I'll be fine. Now I'm off to see my beloved wifey with much greater appreciation and a deeper love.
Love your loved ones. If you are in the rocks, you can get off them.
