For the first time in 28 years my [54M] wife [classified F] are apart for the holidays. I setup a Christmas tree in her room with ornaments and our traditional tree Topper. Decorated her room as much as I'm allowed. Christmas is her absolutely favorite time of year. I wanted her to feel the season as best I could.

Then I dug out the house Christmas tree and lost it. Just sat there bawling my eyes out. So many memories came flooding in. My wife and I did this together. Before that the entire family would decorate together complete with a fire in the fireplace and hot cocoa and TSO blaring. Now it just doesn't seem right to do decorate. I did get a new tree topper. A gold star that projects o

I have an extensive Google home with many minis scattered throughout the house. Last month I had a major health emergency. I asked Google to unlock the front door so paramedics could get in because I physically could not get to the door. Google said no. Luckily I could reach my phone and see the screen long enough to unlock the door. If I hadn't, I'd been dead.

Is there a setting or something that would enable Google to unlock the Yale deadbolt? I got lucky this time. Not sure if I'll be that lucky next time.

I've [54M] have never really lived alone. Joined the Navy out of high school. Went out and saw the world. Didn't like so I went home with a wife and kids in tow. Now our kids are grown and gone. One has given us grandkids. One more is working on it. These two live over an hour away. My other baby girl is off on her own life 4 hours away. My wife [56F] had a catastrophic accident 127 days ago that put her into a skilled nursing facility. I've been on my own since then. The first 3 weeks were sheer hell. My only respite is when I get to go see her for a few hours. Sometimes I fall asleep holding her hand. Eventually, I have to leave.

I just had a heart attack a few weeks ago. It woke me up. I

Xfinity gateway limits

New Post - Tech Support

I have an xfinity gateway modem thing providing wifi coverage with 2 xfi pods in the house so strong coverage is not the issue. The issue is my Google minis keep losing wifi connection and resetting. I've bought a new mini and the problem is easily reproducible. I also have many Lutron switches and doorbell camera. I have plans to add more switches as well as a garage door opener.

What is the limit to the number of devices on my network?

I died

Spouse Appreciation

Literally not figuratively. Woke up to extreme chest pain early Wednesday morning. Paramedics came and got me to our local hospital. Everything was looking good and getting ready to be discharged. Then bam. I went into full cardiac arrest in front of the care team. Last thing I remember was watching someone doing cpr on me. Then I woke up in a different hospital in ICU with stents in my heart and tubes coming out of everywhere. Alive. Hurting but alive. Very lucky because this failure is normally fatal. But because of outstanding efforts of medical people and going into arrest in front of them I'm alive.

My beloved wife has been wonderful despite being stuck in a skilled nursing facility.

I am cooking for one person. A container of Grands biscuits contains a number of biscuits. I only need one or two biscuits for any given meal.

Is there a way to preserve the other biscuits for future use?

I have a Google home with 3 nest minis (v2). The one in the kitchen will make the chimes sounds periodically. None of the other minis do this. I've tried swapping minis and the same thing occurs. So it is not the mini.

Why does it do this? How do I fix it?

(54M/56F) Wife is permanently disabled. She had been using a walker to get around in the house and a wheelchair out in public. In July, she fell in the bathroom breaking her leg in 3 places. It took 3 attempts at surgery to install plates and screws. The surgery was high risk to the point I said a final goodbye with lots of tears. She made it through surgery but the damage was extensive. So much to the point that she is now confined to a wheelchair and bed. The hospital transferred her to a rehab facility. Now we are trying to find a long term place for her to go. To be clear, I want my wife to come home. She wants to come home. The State wants her to go home.

Our house was supposed to be o

I am looking for suggestions for a car that can hold a large folding wheelchair and 4-wheel folding walker. Preferably without having to fold the backseats down to make room.

Been thinking hybrid. But ICE works as well. No interest in pure EV.

The Telluride seems a bit big. Open to most brands. The Subaru Outback looks a bit small. The Forrester seems close. Haven't seen one in the wild yet.

Rehab center problems

Seeking Advice

My (54M) wife (##F) has been moved into a transitional rehab facility after a dangerous surgery. She will be there for a minimum of 8 weeks, likely more. She is non weight bearing on one leg so there is not much they can do until her knee and ankle fractures heal.

The problems I am having.

The food is really bad. It is like the least possible amount of food made as cheaply as possible. We are not expecting Michelin star food, but we are expecting She gets enough nutrition to help her healing. Most of the time she doesn't eat. Or when she does she vomits everything back up. The only full meal she gets is when I go there and buy her supper. It's kinda like our date night, just not as much f

Sitting in my wife's hospital room and a nurse asked if there was anything she could get me. I had a bit of a tickle in my throat and I was thirsty so I asked for something carbonated. She brought me a gingerale. Great problem solved. Next shift, nurse asked the same question and I asked for a gingerale. She brought me a gingerale with no problem. Next shift, no problem.

Then things get interesting. Morning shift comes in. This nurse asks the same question. I asked for a gingerale. She told me those are for patients only. I had to go to get my own. So I instacarted a gingerale along with a few other things with instructions to deliver to the room. They were taking my wife away to surgery a
