New Balance Two Wxy v4 slip issue when planting foot?

Discussion

I just got a pair of Two Wxy v4s and tried them out for about 4 hours of pick up between last night and this morning. I had a recurring issue:

  • When I tried to make an extreme stop, plant for a eurostep, or other gnarly change of direction, three different times the leading edge of the shoe failed to bite on the court and just slid out from under me like I was on ice.

I am 5' 8" 160 lbs explosive point guard, wearing size 9 2E wide.

Anyone else had this problem? I've had some sliding with the v3 due to dusty courts but never 3 complete wipe outs within 4 hours of play.

Had the same issue with the puma all pro nitro, not sure. Maybe try playing outdoors to get a lil wear and tackiness?

Did it go away after you broke them in? I like the shoe overall and I see players like Murray and Garland wearing them on court so I'm hopeful, but if I keep slipping on hard moves there's no way I can justify keeping them

It improved a little but wasn’t perfect, I had to rlly plant my foot to get good traction.

Hmmm... guess I'll give them a couple more sessions. Again I can't imagine NBA players would play in a shoe that can just splatter them at a critical moment.

I think NBA players generally don’t need perfect traction from their shoes cuz the courts r so well maintained. Obv hurts us but they can get away with a few things that our dusty courts or outdoor concrete can’t stick to.

For me, It took time for the shoes to break in properly. I know some people said they were good from the start, but not my pair for whatever reason.

Once the warmed up, the traction was amazing. No problems here with hard stops or rapid changes of direction. I don't have wide feet though.

However the courts I play on aren't that dusty. One of super clean the other is only a little dusty.

Are you playing on really dirty courts? Maybe on those courts you need to wipe more often?

And just to echo what ZeppEquinox said below, I had the All Pro Nitros and did have traction problems with them. I returned them in the end. The V4's are far better.
