Can someone point to the EULA where I agreed to allowing ads on my Tron Cab?

People wanted “connected cabs.” Arcade1Up pushed ads.
Be careful what you wish for…
If this continues, I’m removing all of the A1U branding and replacing the innards with whatever hardware is needed to run ad-free emulations. I couldn’t care any less about losing global leaderboards. The originals were never online anyways.
No fucking way….
Wait till you must watch a 30 second video to play the game or everytime you "insert a credit"
I'm hoping to make a mobile game that brings in revenue from ads...
But for old-school arcade games? I'm sorry: it was cartoons from back then that had ads, not video games! This is not retro!!
Arcade 1up probably figured that since a majority of gamers are used to this kind of advertising in the console and pc space, that they largely wouldn't make a big deal out of it being present here as well.
And they're probably right to think so. That said, it's really tacky and, IMO, it hurts the brand more than whatever added sales these dumb ads send their way.
Maybe, but their demographic is older gamers. Many that got back into gaming bc of arcade1up or maybe all the mini systems. Myself I don’t play modern games so this is pretty annoying.
Yikes, that's total bullshit. I don't play online that much and my only cab that has online is TMNT, so I'll be sure to clear out the wifi settings when I turn it back on.
Just don't let it update, can't be losing your high score rankings. ;)
Aaaaaaaand I turned wifi off on all my cabs. I’ll have none of that.
arcade1up uniquely unmatched as a company who completely misunderstands their core audience
Oh I dunno; Disney's doing some pretty dumb things these days, too.
Yeah, kicked on my cabs yesterday and 3 of em had that friggin ad....
About 66% of people who know about these ads say they’re intrusive and a bad precedent. And there’s no option to opt out. They kept saying “get loud”… well, now they’re giving us a reason.
I scanned it and it is linked to your account. Enjoy your new PacMan cabinet arriving on Friday. Just kidding, I ordered Time Crisis
Good taste, I'll take it. (in seriousness, it didn't occur to me that it might be linked to my account. I imagine it's just for ad tracking?)
Actually, I don't know, it's just seems to have a lot of information on it and a link can be much simpler.
Next up: The games will all be on the cloud, with the cab only existing to pass your moves to their servers.
Now that you mention it. That sounds a lot like what the actioncade could be.
This is how Microsoft is extending life on the older Xboxes. You can still play new games — but they are not installed on the device. No internet or outage? No gaming.
Very tacky.
Was going to buy a TMNT this holiday, and maybe the XL Pacman.
Decided about 2 weeks ago to try building one myself using Launchbox and Mame.
I have had great success, and this confirms I have made the right decision.
This is almost as bad as my new TCL tv that makes you sign in to turn on.
F these companies. I want products, not bloatware.
I did not know they were doing this...all my cabs are 1st and 2nd gen.
WiFi connected ones.
You paid for ads, congrats
I mean probably. I've never met a EULA I didn't read, but still...
What a garbage company.
Just make yourself a freaking nice multicade with top of the line parts instead of dropping money on these crap toys.
You know, I like my little cab (well actually 3). I don't have the time or money for a full-size cabinet(s). Only thing I don't like about Tron is the joystick is just too flimsy and no Sark voice on DoT.
Someday I'd like a couple full size projects like a Pacman that can play all the pacmans or a twin stick cabinet for just twin stick games, but money is tight these days. I've tinkered with arcade controls and ipac's, but nothing just sings to me. I feel like if I'm gonna go full cabinet I want something that takes quarters and doesn't have 20,000 games I'll never play.
I do have a small console with a full size Tempest encoder that's super heavy and fun to play. I'm tempted to mount it into my Atari Tempest Legacy A1UP in the future as that's the only thing I really dislike about that cabinet.
I need a dual trackball controller for marble madness, and a 10 button panel for Toobin', or a non-centered stick for 720, or a Sinistar! /drool.
Giant multicades just aren't my cup of tea.
I made a twinstick cabinet (albeit at 3/4 scale), and it was the best decision I made for my gaming room. Robotron, SmashTV, and Fire Trap all day. I only ended up spending a couple hundred on the whole thing.
Ok. Haven’t played fire trap. Now you’re putting ideas in my head stop it as I google local cnc options.
Make it *EVEN EASIER* on yourself and snag a Gen-1 Arcade1Up for ~$100 and just convert it.
I have a multicade. And a real donkey Kong. And a claw. And a bunch of other cabs. I also have some of these. What's your point?
Just absolutely awful. It's going to be like Youtube soon on the cabinets, with ads running constantly.
Why Arcade1up can never be true replicas.
Yeah online was not worth this
Ohhhh that's infuriating.
What's next, in-game ads? /s I get that these games can sometimes be "a steal", but... I don't know. It was just a bit jarring. At first I though I was going to get the Discs of Tron with the voice clips, but nope. Just an advertisement.
