Konichiwa! (I'm trying to remember the key phrases but this likely comes off as cheesy here.)
I'm in the process of planning a nearly two week trip to Japan for this summer, traveling as a family with older kids who are especially interested in modern Japanese culture. Here's what I was thinking so far for highlights, and I'd like to get your feedback on it.
Day 1:
- Arrive at NRT airport, forward luggage to hotel near Tokyo Station by taking JR Narita Express.
- Check into hotel, get dinner, and relax.
Day 2:
-
Gather our bearings, perhaps spending time in Ueno Zoo to see snow leopards (this isn't Japan specific but something we try to do wherever we travel.)
-

January 6 committee announces it has sent a subpoena to former President Donald Trump
cnn.com/2022/10/21/politics/january-6-committ...This came to mind because my neighborhood was once on the edge of the suburbs and I'd drive past cows in fields daily. Now, the suburbs have extended further out and I'd probably have to drive miles to get to open fields with cattle again. The last time I saw any cows was probably a few months back on a road trip.
So how about you? When was the last time you saw a living cow?
Hi there. I'm in your fair city for a few months and looking for some Mexican bread, specifically some small teo-bite empanadas that are filled with cajeta like you would find in Sonora Mexico. Someone already suggested La Purisima Bakery which is full of delicious things but they don't have exactly what I'm looking for. Any suggestions that help would be appreciated.
I've been using an XBox 360 wired controller with no problems for a while, and recently I wanted to try using an XBox One controller (the newer ones so it has Bluetooth) and was able to get it to sync. When using OpenEmu, it seems like the controller is flaky and doesn't work all the time, but if I exit and quit OpenEmu and take the batteries out of the controller then turn it back on and re-open OpenEmu it works for a while. I also noticed that it seems to work ok with NES and SNES games, but when trying to use Mame it never works.
Is there anything else I might need to do to get this to work with my wireless controller? if not I can stick with wired but I am more used to the XBox One c

tmc.edu/coronavirus-updates/tmc-2-week-projec...With COVID-19, there's been a nationwide resurgence in drive-in movie theaters so people can still get out and do social distancing, which got me thinking of one aspect of my childhood. When I was a kid in the 80's/90's, my grandfather would load up a van and take us to a drive-in that was built in the 1950's and still decorated in that era's style. Other times he'd take us to a root beer stand (similar to Sonic) where you'd sit in your car and hang out while getting ice cream and root beer floats that also appeared to be from the 1950's. He would generally have music playing from his youth as well, matching the experience. The 1950's seem to be much less influential or historical than t

politico.com/news/magazine/2019/12/18/america...Today a friend and I went to get Treebeards at 1100 Louisiana for lunch, and the bread was terrible. It happened one other time when we went a few weeks back and I just thought it was stale. I also thought their gumbo tasted a bit different, but it was more subtle than the shockingly bad bread.
Has anyone else noticed this, and is it limited to the Treebeards at 1100 Louisiana St? If so, I'll go to another one next time.
