Landfill smell by Warm Springs

We’re looking at a SFH by Warm Springs but husband is worried the smell from Newby/Milpitas will carry over in the summer. Location is to the east of 680, between Vineyards Avalon and Bay Biew Golf Club.

I grew up in Milpitas and remember it smelling pretty bad in the summer, but it doesn’t seem to be as bad recently driving down 880 these days (or I’m just desensitized to it…).

Does anyone live around there have any personal experience in the last few years?

I lived in warm springs for a lot of years, it's not down wind of the dumps so it doesn't get it, the wind/breeze here is generally south easterly in direction and that's why Milpitas is often known as smellpitas

Sewer treatment on one side and the dump on the other. It hasn't changed really.

Amazon Prime used to have the Indy movie The Monster from Milpitas (or something to that effect). Check it out. It’s nothing new.

Im curious how far does that landfill or garbage dump smell go in milpitas? Beyond 680?

I grew up off of Evans Rd. and the smell doesn’t travel that far normally. The winds coming off the foothills stop it from going that way.

maybe 2-3 days a year when the wind blows the wrong way. not an issue.

My office is on Fremont Blvd between the 880 exits for Dixon Landing and Fremont Blvd. The smell is pretty bad about 10-15 days a year. This happens usually in the mornings and in the Summer.

You get used to it.

It's been like that for decades. I never really got used to it so I no longer live there.
