I noticed I had 29,950 scrobbles in 2012. Had I been paying closer attention, I would've made sure I got 30k that year. I did pass 30k in 2013, but I think that was just coincidence as I was listening to a ton of music back then.
It should never be about the numbers, of course, it's only in looking back I realized I came so close. Other near misses were 19,486 in 2015 and 14,585 in 2017.

2012 was a quiet year but so close to still cracking 5k at 4949
2015 roughly average year got close to 10k at 9961
2017 second highest year overall and just 12 away from a minor milestone at 22988
My highest year btw was 2019 with 25297 scrobbles and I remember being very aware of 25k looming on the horizon, was a heavy music year for me regardless but I definitely listened a little extra in December to make sure of it
Last year I was roughly 250 away from 30K in 2022 (it’s ok cause I’ve doubled that and then some this year :) )
I was not even 30 scrobbles away from making it to 5K during my first year of last.fm, so that's a bit of a bummer in hindsight. But at the same time, there's nothing you can do about it now anyway.
