PC Replacement Parts - CPU, Mobo, and RAM - Upgrade from 10700K to 7800X3D?
A lightning strike damaged my current 10700K, Patriot 4400 DDR4, 3080 FTW3 build. Local shop diagnosed and determined that the mobo was fried and we replaced the mobo. However, the 3080 FTW3 then died, but EVGA honored the warranty. But, I got myself into a 4090 FE and am feeling the itch to upgrade now.
Insurance is covering the entire replacement cost of the PC and after looking at the replacement values for the above components, if I were to get a 7800X3D, ASUS ROG STRIX B650E-E GAMING WIFI mobo, and 2x32GB 6000 Mhx GSkill Trident Z5 CL30 DDR5, I'd only be paying $120 out of pocket.
My fans, drives, PSU (Seasonic Focus PX-850), and CPU Cooler (Arctic LF2 360) all came through fine, so no need to replace those.
It looks like for $120 bucks, Id be getting a big boost above the 10700K and would avoid possible bottlenecks with that CPU.
Uses - work from home and 3440x1440 144hz gaming. I run 4x 3440 x 1440 1440p displays, but only game on one.
What do some of you think? Worth $120 to get into the 7800X3D? I thought about getting into the 12900K which would let me upgrade, again, to the 14700/14900 when Intel's 15th gen is released, but didnt' get jazzed about that.

$120 only for all those new parts? Absolutely.
Yeah, after insurance pays out for the replacement value of the cpu, mobo, and ram in my current PC, Id be playing $120-$140 out of pocket to get into a 7800x3d, that Asus mobo and cl30 6000 ddr5.
