Linux internal speakers not working

Tech Support

Legion 7 pro RTX 4090 i9 32gb ram. Let me know what other info is helpful.

Has anyone gotten the internal speakers working? They worked fine on windows. I’ve tried fedora, Ubuntu, Pop!_OS, and mint. No luck on any of them. Tried a lot of randomness from google. No luck yet. Would appreciate any tips 🙏

On a Legion 5, I had this issue after first installing Ubuntu. I solved it by downgrading the Nvidia driver to the previous version. It held for over one year and at some point it broke, I have no sound again.

Lenovo support is useless because the Legions are not part of their linux support program.

which is pretty wild because I bought this thing thinking Lenovo had awesome linux support. TBH its worked pretty well so far besides this,

Same thing here, I was surprised.

The issue is discussed here since 2020, still not solved, and Lenovo hasn't done anything

hello, what is the smart amp in your device? is it from cirrus logic or TI?

I think cirrus but what’s a good way to check? it was “audio by harman” listed on it if that’s any indication

not really. I heard cirrus logic is troublesome on linux. check the speaker section here: https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Lenovo\_Thinkpad\_Z16#Sound\_.26\_Microphone
