Multiplayer experience question for EA WRC

EA SPORTS WRC

Hi! I'm an avid sim racer but I've never played any rally games. I'm maybe looking to get EA WRC to play with some friends. Is there a way to set up a lobby for just my friends and I to play together? Can we stay in the lobby and switch tracks, cars, etc? I had a very difficult time Googling/searching this question, so thanks in advance!

I guess the best way could be to start a club. Just have the invite between you. You could go one after another sharing your screen on discord to watch or just do a standard call while you all race together. It's how I'd do it if I had friends who played racing games aha

If you're playing at the same time use quick play and make a private lobby. If you're not always playing at the same time make a club.

Thanks! In a private lobby do you drive at the same time?

Yep.

You do, but you don't see each other, not even ghosts, if that's what you want. You just drive the same stage at the same time.

MP seems to have more issues than SP currently, it stutters a lot more frequently for whatever reason. That stuff is bad enough in SP when it happens, but I found it to be extremely unpleasant in MP.

I would not recommend this game for live head to head multiplayer, but there's still plenty of ways to compete with friends.

Yeah we realize the limitations of rally inherently with multiplayer, no worries. I'd be distracted with a ghost anyway.

We'd probably just talk shit in discord as we crash individually and catastrophically. Good to know about performance issues though

I love the live multiplayer. I play it almost every night with a good friend of mine. We're at a very similar pace, so when one of us goes off and starts screaming obscenities, the other is usually nearby on track, meaning they have a good idea of what happened. Or sometimes we crash at the some corner at the same time, so that's always a good laugh. Plus, comparing times at the end is always fun. I mean, it's pretty much the whole thing, trying to be faster than your friends. I'd absolutely recommend it.

Yeah you can make a private lobby, and switch things around.

Once you start a Championship you can't change any cars/locations/etc., but at the end of the Championship it doesn't kick anyone out. You all stay in the lobby and the host is then able to change anything they want before starting up a new Championship.
