The tide of "Gardener Gift Guides" has come...Can we do better?
So, there's snow on the ground here, my seed catalogues haven't all come, and my inbox is already bursting with "gift ideas for your gardener". I've already seen a few thoughtful "would this be a good gift?" threads here, and my relatives are pestering one another for hints on if I need another pair of gloves (I do not.)
With apologies to the mods if this violates sub rules (advertising?), I thought it'd be fun to ask what ya'll are hoping the garden gnomes bring you for winter holidays this year. Bonus points for small businesses that need extra support!
What garden-centric gifts (or memberships, books, donations to good causes) are you hoping your loved ones would get you this year?
What will you be gifting to other gardeners?
Or, conversely, what are you desperately hoping to avoid receiving (again)?
To go first, I am always delighted to receive and read new, well-researched and/or very pretty books on plants and gardening, or a membership to one of our local gardens/CSAs. (Which was an unexpected favorite gift I got last year.)
On the other hand, if I get another "sun hat" I will find it very difficult to smile and be gracious.
I am a fussy fussy jerk about stuff on my head, and generally dislike hats as a rule. I concede that skin cancer is bad, and I have found one I like. I do not care that it is ugly. Do not try to replace it. Gurrrr.
I also sadly, rarely enjoy getting gifted seeds, as they are often not what I want to plant, have space to plant, or simply can grow in my space.
