Too many details..,🤷🏻♀️🤦♀️
"Freezes and continues" or "is frozen and dead until I turn off/on"?
frozen until it's turned off
A good idea is to watch your logs immediately a freeze happens. For me it was the telegram app missing a dependency and this caused freezing - I just removed the app, installed the flatpak problem solved, journalctl -f or syslog is a good startpoint.
I tried looking at logs before, and I couldn't find any clues
Left journalctl open in a terminal window while watching a hockey game, and I got another freeze.
These were the last two lines in the log before the freeze:
Dec 02 21:16:10 debian-r12 org_kde_powerdevil[1344]: org.kde.powerdevil: Unsatisfied policies, the action has been aborted
Dec 02 21:16:15 debian-r12 org_kde_powerdevil[1344]: org.kde.powerdevil: Unsatisfied policies, the action has been aborted
These lines are from 21:16, but the freezing occurred at 21:40, so I'm not sure if it's really related
Looks like a power state issue to me but I don‘t really know what the powerdevil entry is.
I think that's useless feature anyway on desktop pc, remove the app.
sudo apt-get remove powerdevil
I tried that, and it didn't seem to help
sorry for the late response
Are you, by chance, running a Kingston SSD as your boot drive? There are known issues with certain drives; random freezing being one of them.
I believe the SSD I'm using is an Apacer Panther
Do REISUB keys work when this happens?
haven't tried it. I'll take note of that
It froze again, so I tried the key combo to reboot. (Alt+PS+B)
It did not work.
That means the kernel is frozen; likely due to a kernel panic, check system logs.
I already checked journalctl, and I didn't find anything relating to a kernel panic.
