CX410 delay delay delay

PoE Camera Question

I replaced a failed Reolink camera (after 1.9 years) with a Reolink CX410 last weekend on my deck and the area is also partially covered by a Reolink Duo with some overlap of the view between the two cameras. If I am viewing both the cameras live in BlueIris there is a significant delay on the live feed from the CX410 (like 5 to 10 seconds behind). I know it has some newer or more refined features like person, animal and vehicle detection and I am not interested in that but I can't find where I can turn off this type of thing to make the live feed more real time or if that is actually the cause of the delay. Any insight appreciated.

BTW: I absolutely love the color night vision, even in almost total darkness it yields an image like is seen during the day, seeing much better than our human eyes can which is completely amazing. Couldn't be more impressed with that!

I just checked mine and I barely have a delay. Maybe 1-1.5 seconds, but that's pretty standard.

However, I'm just viewing through the Reolink app, so I wonder if it has something to do with the RTSP/ONVIF feed or however Blue Iris receives the signal. If I were you I'd see if you still have the delay when viewing with the Reolink app. That might help to narrow it down.

The AI features wouldn't be slowing it down. The Duo has the same smart detection features anyways, so that wouldn't be the difference.

Is it lagging behind if you view the camera directly in reolink's app?

If not It's not the camera's fault or reolink's fault. Blueiris is buffering it for a few seconds before sending it out to live feed. There might be a toggle somewhere in blueiris for this.

What firmware version is your CX410 running?

I would try reverting back to v3.1.0.2207_23051803 if you are not already running that version.

I have found with the later builds that the audio lags behind the video and am wondering if this is also effecting you in a different way.

I don't use BlueIris so I cant comment further on how compatible the CX410 is with that platform.

Yeah, that's the version I am running (v3.1.0.2207_23051803), unchanged out of the box but if one selects to check for a firmware update it says it's the latest version available which is likely not true.

I'm breaking my reddit read-only 'vow' for this response, but it's for a good cause...

I had this same issue while testing the new CX 410s I just got - the visible delay with my SubStream live view vs my others made it worthless, ranging up to ~15s before I got fed up and anticipated needing to return them. I'm not using the app at all. Direct via RTSP/ONVIF to Blue Iris.

Changing 'Frame Rate Mode' in the Reolink camera settings to 'Constant' did the trick (away from the default of 'Gradual'). I'd had similar issues in the past with variable framerates causing differential delays in Blue Iris. It's a setting to try to avoid, much like 'Limit decoding unless required' can cause odd, tricky to resolve issues. Blue Iris is extremely complex itself and there are a lot of complex interactions that cause undesirable behavior. Enable & Use ONVIF (port 8000) along with RTSP (554), and within blue iris IP camera configuration, 'Find/inspect...' to pull ONVIF info for configuration.

As an aside: These cameras are very impressive for this price. I can't wait to see them during the day, but they're fantastic at night - much better than my 6+ yr old old LaView cameras that have all actually done great themselves.

Hope this helps!

PS: Reolink, if you're watching.. the option for a non sensor-cropped 1920x1080p stream that limits FOV would be nice. 2560x1440 can be a little heavy on bitrate when full-FOV 1080p would do.

Thanks so much for breaking your read-only 'vow', I am truly honored :)

I have implemented the change you suggested, now set for 'Constant' so now I have to wait for some movement and feedback from the wife unit.
