If I remember correctly, there are only 3 pins that the data cable uses. I no longer have a Buell or my ECMspy cable to 100% verify but I'm pretty sure.
Thanks. I remember the P.O. explaining why he spliced the cord and removed the pin, but I didn’t think to write it down. Good news, though - I took a second look at things and got it working as is!
Yup, should only need the three. Also you can crimp those in a pinch with std butt splice crimpers. You just have to make sure it fits in the connector. Use the one for non insulated splices.
u/BrakeFastBurrito for future reference you can now get a datalink cable off amazon for $30 or so. Wirenest makes a good cable for the datalink and it even has a transmission light to verify data being sent or received.
Looks like a Deutsch style connector. You need a special tool to crimp those pins on. Kinda pricey to get the setup for 1 pin but they are great connectors to use on other things.
Ahh I should have guessed Deutsch connector because the user manual starts with a love letter to how amazing those things are. Plus it looks like a replacement connector is the same price as the tool itself LOL. Thanks!
You can always just solder the pins and sockets to the wire if you don't have the tool.
