The best counters to lockdown are to put power into a few lanes as quickly as possible so they either can’t risk locking the lane down or they are behind when they do. Also you can try using cards like goose and echo to make lockdown harder or impossible (for prof x). Running lockdown counters helps but lockdown already runs those cards too so if you fall behind you are pretty screwed. Ms marvel helps if you build for her.

You want early prio for sure so some lower cost cards like lizard etc can be helpful to secure lanes. Echo is particularly useful as well as it will kill their Ms Marvel and leave you open to using one yourself. Disruption cards like Juggernaut are quite helpful to kick out whatever they are going to play on their Storm lane or change their X lane on them. Green Goblin to again cancel out their Ms Marvel (two 3 costs on the same lane). Echo will also kill their Professor X play. Negasonic is useful here too to nuke a critical card leading into T6 and give you priority which is all you need to counter Alioth.

If you’re finding you’re getting rolled by control, build the deck yourself and play it a bit so you can get a sense of what they’re likely doing and be proactive in your response to it. Control decks like this need prio and they need to keep early momentum, if you disrupt that you disrupt their whole game plan as they aren’t typically putting down huge power but trying to lock you out of your late game

Ms. Marvel, Doom, Jeff. The cards u mentioned sacrifice power for lockout effects. Just play cards that have stats and fight for priority and can sneak into other lanes

Jeff -> Hulkbuster lmao.

Shuri -> Vision works well too. Cosmo one lane, Shuri something that isn't Red Skull, T6 is either Zero + Skull or Taskmaster + Zero. Depends on if you have priority or not and if you can contest the locked down lane.

Usually I just hold Jeff for T6 to be like "gotcha dumbass" when they try to Alioth after X'ing a lane.

You do know your meta is going to change as soon as you build the deck to counter it, right? 😁

As someone who plays lockdown like 95% of the time, here are my suggestions to counter -

Cards that gain power on their own can be hard to deal with especially in the Storm lane e.g. Collector, Sunspot and Nebula. Similarly Cyclops in the Storm lane usually turns that lane into an advantage.

Move cards are also tough since they aren't prevented from moving into the Storm lane. A surprise Jeff can mess up the math for ProfX lane.

Try to fight for priority, which renders Alioth useless. Enchantress or Rogue on Ms Marvel usually is a very likely win as well.

I was having the same issue so I switched to a dark hark lockdown deck. Basically fight fire with fire.

Shaw does pretty well. You can get brood/shaw out before any of the lockdown stuff happens and usually you can keep priority by going wide.

Goose locks out X and Alioth, Armor stops Alioth final turn, Jeff and Doom to get into hard to reach places (Ms. Marvel if you have her, as well). Sera Control is in a decent place right now, and generally runs most of these cards: double check some of those lists and adjust to your needs/meta?

Ms marvel seema to work.

People that play x only want to win the x lane with as little power as possible so cards like Ms marvel, klaw, and mr fantastic, Jeff hurt that strategy by putting more power in a lane we think we have locked down.

Echo and goose are good at preventing the placement of x as well.

Move cards, early power, and priority.

I was in this boat for a while and switched to Evo/Infinaut. Would have Sunspot in one lane and Cyclops in another to hedge bets if opponent wanted to lock a lane down. T5 Leech murders alioth. If you’re able to get Magik down too even better.

Marvel Darkhawk smashes it 0retty good.

I've been having a lot of success against it with Sera Surfer with Goose. I've been struggling against Hela and Mr. Negative decks
