Sucks being Cinderella

Part of managing the brain fog, dizziness, and mood issues for me now dictates that I go to bed at 10, never past 11, or else I'll turn into a messy girl and everything around me turns to pumpkins and mice. My kids are home for the holidays and I can hear them downstairs with my husband playing games and laughing together. I've always been the last to turn in after closing the house at night. I'm a little sad about missing the late night discussions and fun. Anyone else living by Cinderella rules now?

It never gets late for me either. I was up 2:30 and fell asleep on the couch Christmas eve with guests still here. It’s like my body has its own mind now, and I can’t fight it. After all the prepping and stress making Christmas, I had to spend 2 days resting doing absolutely nothing. My super woman power days has ended, and I’m still learning my new limitations.

Yeah, and I should have been asleep 2 hours ago. I missed having breakfast with my home-from-college daughter because my husband couldn't wake me up.

I had a heavy week leading up to the holiday and am just exhausted. Meno just drained my precious energy.

You are correct. It sucks. But there is worse. I learned today that a dear friend that I lost touch with passed 2 weeks ago. So that kind of puts it in a better perspective.

So nite, nite.

I can't stay up late either. I work second shift, get off at ten and am ready for bed by midnight. Then I sleep until about noon.

I used to be a night owl. I wish I could say I'm a morning person now, but I'm not. I'm a 1-2 in the afternoon person. That's it. I've got one good hour, maybe 2 on a good day. The rest of the time I'm foggy headed or tired.

I've been fighting brain fog for years because I have MCAS. I drink coffee and take ashwagandha before I start work, and I think it helps. My job is interesting enough to me that I don't get sleepy while I'm working.

Lately I’m up late if I see 9pm. Been waking up between 3 & 5. No idea why.

I make myself wait til 10 to shower and turn in because I'm already waking between 3 & 5 but usually able to go back to sleep. I'm afraid if I go to bed earlier I'll wake earlier or won't go back to sleep.

I hear ya. You'll get a lot of support on the stickied Manic Monday thread. Best wishes.

This is such a funny way to put it! I love it. This problem began for me at 35, so I guess I’m just used to it now! My husband is the same way, thankfully.

Doesn’t matter - I always wake at 4 am. So now I go to bed at 8 pm so I can get 8 hours. Yes, I miss late night fun.

I had great energy, was never tired now my eyes get tired. It's ridiculous. I get up early and halfway through the day need a nap 😴 ugh

It's really not even about being tired though. It's that I literally cannot function after 10. I have to follow such a strict schedule now, and diet, and exercise plan or I fall apart. Spontaneity and fun are just no longer there for me because I'm managing myself. Ugh
