This is the bullshit excuse I was taught to use when I didn't want to do something. Being asked to volunteer, to a social gathering, anything "I'm sorry, I have a prior obligation". I always hated it. It sounds pompous and made up, but I was always supposed to have an excuse. One of the greatest things to come from my 40s has been learning to say "I'm sorry, I don't want to do that." That's all I need. Actually, just "No" is enough, but if pressed for a reason why "because I dont want to" is perfectly valid. I wish I had been taught this as a little girl.

I was finally doing OK, finding my groove. I had a phone conversation with the college kid in which we were discussing upcoming breaks. He wanted to go with friends for Spring break instead of coming home, but understood that he needs to come home since he'll be traveling over the summer. Then he threw this at me with a snarky tone "you should know I won't be coming home next summer either". Gosh I am back to pieces. I did know it. I've known since before he left for college that he won't be living at home anymore. That's why I've been so broken. I had no illusions that the move out was temporary. But I didn't need him to sass me with it. It really ripped the wound back open and I'm back to

My husband put in nearly zero effort. Some would find it romantic, but he could have done better. He made a vase from a plastic soda bottle and cut some flowers outside at his work. I thanked him and told him they're beautiful, which they are, but I've had a tough several months and he knows that I'm not feeling especially loved or appreciated lately. Spending a few minutes after work picking flowers and jamming them in a bottle picked from the trash just feels like an afterthought. I'm trying to hide that I'm holding back tears and feel a little bratty for not being more grateful. We've been together 30 years and I've had some years of no gifts, some years of great gifts, but this one sting

I don't think there is another currently living generation more concerned with knowing other people's business than boomers. The rest of us generally don't want to know and don't want to share. Boomers are either spreading it or fishing for it. Why?

I'm done. I haven't had a cycle in years. My daughter started hers in early summer. Since then I've felt instability that I haven't felt in years either. My newly returned hot flashes and anxiety finally started to calm down, then the last couple nights I've woken with sweats and flashes and today I'm anxious. I've just put 2 and 2 together and realized my daughter is on her monthly. I always thought that was kind of nonsense, but now I'm wondering if I'm reacting to her hormones.

Unfold that paper patient information insert before you throw it away! I opened a new box last month and went to throw that paper away and a pouch that had slid between the folds of paper fell out. This month I was careful to check and there were two hiding I there. I may have been throwing away a couple days doses each month and never knew it!

I'm not sure why but I'm missing my kid today. Last night when I walked past his closed bedroom door, I noticed it gripped my heart a little but I didn't think much of it. Today I'm missing him and crying as if he just left. I thought I had finally processed it all and quit crying but it looks like I've still got some tears inside.

GWP product help

I'm looking for

In the silver bag Ulta brand GWP a month or two ago, there were two lip products. One was lip stain and one was a velvet matte liquid lipstick. My daughter loved what was left of the stain (a lot of it leaked) and I have enjoyed the lipstick. I can't find either of these products online. Are they already discontinued or can someone please help me find them on the app? Thank you

At what age do elderly begin setting their indoor heat to 80F? My in laws do it. My own parents do it. My own husband is trying to reach that and not even 50 yet. He's inching the thermostat up and I'm nudging it down. When do I get to be cold again? I have a full tote bin of sweaters that I haven't even bothered to uynpack this winter, even though it's been around 0F the last couple days. I don't think I've put on a long sleeve shirt in over a year. I layer a cardigan over my tee outside or a coat if it's super cold. Should I just donate my winter clothes? Everyone I know is complaining about the frigid weather and I'm still hot! Seriously, when does it change?

Part of managing the brain fog, dizziness, and mood issues for me now dictates that I go to bed at 10, never past 11, or else I'll turn into a messy girl and everything around me turns to pumpkins and mice. My kids are home for the holidays and I can hear them downstairs with my husband playing games and laughing together. I've always been the last to turn in after closing the house at night. I'm a little sad about missing the late night discussions and fun. Anyone else living by Cinderella rules now?

I used to send and receive lots of Christmas cards. I quit sending them sometime after social media took over for keeping up with friends and many of the elders on my mailing list died. Now I receive about 3 or 4 personal Christmas cards each year, all from millenials still doing the cute holiday photos. Did you all keep this tradition going or give it up?

Today is dark and rainy and gloomy. I am bored and depressed. As I'm pushing myself through the day, one foot in front of the other, I go upstairs to wash up and get dressed. Yes, it's after noon and I'm still not dressed, I said I'm depressed. Suddenly, while brushing my teeth I have an idea! It excites me a little. I feel motivation! I go downstairs to execute this idea and...what was I going to do? It's gone. The idea that sparked a little joy and motivation, I can't remember it at all. Back to pushing through the day.
