Farm XL

Help

Hi, I have been reading the previous posts and I super interested in getting an aero garden. I just noticed that Best Buy has a sale on the farm 12 for about $330. Would I be crazy jumping into aero garden with such a large purchase? Any suggestions/ comments would be super appreciated.

Honestly depends on what you want to grow. Lettuce and herbs do fine in a Harvest or Bounty. The Farm is better for bigger plants

I was thinking cucumber and peppers?

I’d get the farm then. Cucumbers tend to want to spread though and you may have trouble containing them.

Check fb marketplace, there are a lot of people getting out of the hobby. You can buy a one time used harvest for $40-60

Think greens and herbs and you will be a happier Aerogarden owner.

Peppers are great in a Farm unit.

Cucumbers do fine in a Farm and also a Bounty. You have to train the vine on the trellis and be sure to select a variety that is a smaller cuke. Iznik and H19 cukes do well.

My first AeroGarden was the 24xl.. mainly for tomatoes and peppers for me.. now I have 7 in total with a mix of bounty’s and harvests and love them all for different reasons. I only put 2 tomato plants in each side and while they are growing I do use some of the other spots for salads until the tomato plants are big enough to need the space

That’s a great buy!

I'd wait for a sale at $330. i paid like $260 for my farm 12xl and got a free sprout with it.

For the people on this sub responses will lean towards yes — the people who got an aerogarden and never used it won’t be posting here. Keep that in mind

If you do a lot of gardening or have houseplants/related hobbies you will likely get a lot of use out of it. It is basically the best aspects of those hobbies with no pests, faster results, and no seasons. I also am gonna point out that closer to spring there will be larger sales and you can likely get a farm for less

It’s a very common misconception that hydroponic gardens are insect free. Aphids, Thrips, Fungus Gnats, and Spider Mites are all buggers that I see posts about pretty often in my various Aerogarden groups.

Hi! I have an Aerogarden Harvest Elite Slim, a MUFGA (off-brand), and I tried the kratky setup, and have experience with growing in soil outdoors. I found myself wanting more space after my first few months of aerogardens and plan to get this 60 pod system (or a similar one) from Amazon when I move to my new place.

If you're looking in the price range of the XL Farm, you might want to look into this for way more space and growing power. I don't think it's too much to start off with, especially if you have plant experience. Almost EVERYBODY upgrades from a small Aerogarden.

Thanks for everyone’s input. I’m going to look on Facebook and probably find a farm (or something similar)

Farm 24 is the same price essentially. Get a better bang for your buck
