What are the options after being laid off with no severance pay?

Advice

Hey everyone,

Just needed to vent a bit and maybe get some advice. I've been with this Thai company for nearly 2 years, and out of nowhere, they pull me into a quick meeting to drop the bomb - today's my last day. And guess what? No severance pay, no notice period compensation, nothing.

I feel pretty naive. I've put in so much for these guys, late nights, extra work, you name it. I was really hoping they'd pay the compensation as they're supposed to by the law and the work agreement that was signed by the company.

The meeting was super impersonal too. They talked about optimizing the budget, but it all felt like an excuse to cut costs at my expense. I asked about my severance, and it was like talking to a brick wall. They're just not budging. All I heard was repetitive "It's a tough time for the company, you understand, right?".

Now here's the kicker – I'm based in Ukraine, working remotely as an engineer. With everything going on here, finding another position is more than just tough; it's near impossible. I don't think they gave a single thought about that, though.

It's crazy how they think it's okay to just ignore the laws, the agreements and the rules and leave someone hanging.

Anyway, I wanted to share my story because I know I'm not the only one who's been through this. If you've got any advice or have been in a similar boat, I'd love to hear from you. How do you bounce back from something like this and get a new job? Considering... you know.

Thanks for letting me rant. Here's to hoping the new year brings better days.

First, apply for unemployment. Get that check while u looking for a job.

Wish I could but as a military aged male, I would likely to be drafted and be forced into doing something I do not want to be doing. No way around it

I have no input because your situation sucks. Just know that person didn’t bother reading past your title.
