So after weeks of watching YouTube videos and reading past Reddit comments I really wanted to take a go at handpainting some Gunpla.

I got an MG Dynames kit for Christmas and saw some videos that made it look wicked cool with some alternate paint jobs, so instead of putting that guy together it’s waiting while I practice, thus the cheapo $12 RX-78-2 kit for first practice.

So first thing I learned not to do is paint before assembly. I had all the pieces on alligator clips and when it was getting pieces together, just chipping all over the place and had to touch up here and there. Even after there’s still some spots on the chest and knees. Plus spots I assumed couldn’t be seen and then glaring unpainted spots on the kit, better planning next time.

I got some Vallejo paints and made sure to thin it out and do layers and let it dry. I couldn’t figure out yellow so went with a turquoise on the neck lol the only thing I didn’t paint were the feet (ran out of alligator clips/time) and the gun/shield. I need to get more panel line markers but for now just wanted to practice painting

All in all pleased with this first attempt, can’t wait to practice on the HG Barbados I picked up. Bonus pic at the end with big brother MG Aile Strike
