Drug testing candidates

Would it be possible to require candidates for national office to submit to drug testing because of their need upon winning election to have, keep, and maintain a security clearance?

While states rights issues have legalized and decriminalized various controlled substances for personal use, within a region, under federal law, controlled substance use is still forbidden. Drug testing for recreational drugs is, I believe, a requirement for a security clearance, or it should be. Drug testing is required of military personnel, even national guard.
